I hate to beat a dead horse, but anyone remember what happened back when they ripped the sprites of the original?

We got 2 names of characters who were not in.

The first was Bern who you could trick the game to bring up her painting and she had a sprite. She is now coming this spring alongside Lambda and Will.

The second only had a name, but.... it was Rena Ryuugu!

There's a veeeeeery strange, empty space at the bottom of the roster which would make for a perfect 20 characters.... Granted, she wouldn't make sense to be on Rokkenjima, but it's a fighting game.... I think that speaks for itself... especially considering who you can make fight alongside one another.

But "19" is perfect, given what the number means in Umineko. I think Rena was scrapped entirely; she only got a portrait, not a sprite.

Not even that, just the name.
Since Bern had both a portrait and a standing sprite,
I always thought Rena's name was put in there along with the real leftover data on purpose just to screw with people.

Come on guys, do you think it's over after Cross and there is never gonna be any more updates/expansions/sequels with more characters? I dobut that.

I can't see why they'd just stop after only two updates.
There was that poll a while back when Cross was announced where they asked whenever to focus on the engine or adding more characters,
characters won out.
So I'd assume whatever direction it'll go in after Cross,
It'll be more engine focused.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll get something a la Melty Blood -> ReACT when the 3rd version rolls around.
For now, it's good that the roster has been rounded off with most of the missing faces.
And things like OTG attacks are a nice start for fleshing out the engine.

They've gotten an engine, and now a solid roster down,
anything going from here (engine refinement seems the way to go)
wouldn't need any drastic meassures.
It's a fighting game series after all.

Well, I also just want to hold on to my dream that
we'll see something akin to Melty -> ReACT in the engine department.
