Well Aika isn't alive anymore, is she? So it is technically true to say that she "isn't there."

Do you really believe my emasculation comment concerning hair clips on a male character means that I think straight, male characters need to be some macho jerks? Really?

The world isn't quite that black and white, nor extreme.

The hair clips are a terrible design choice, sure, but at least they make Yoshino stand out more than your average brownhair.

I wonder if maybe they're Aika's hairpins, that would make a lot of sense

He had them when she was alive. Though it's possible they were a gift from her.

Nice 1st episode, but it gives Darker than Black vibes and Mahiro is like Accelerator from To aru Majutsu.

But still cool. Is it 13 episodes?

I don't know if she gave it to him, but the main reason, I guess, he is wearing it is, as you pointed out, that he is a cunning boy and it's his way to mislead people and viewers (?). That seems to be the more plausible explanation so far to me. The question is, why?

Just finished watching the first ep. So far, I like what I saw. It’s been a while since I saw a show with two bishounens as MCs (Getbackers & Tokyo Majin Gakuen being the fresh-est on my mind). That cast-away girl is quite intriguing (I just love strong women). I also like the dynamic action, especially when Mahiro was fighting that unemployed Fraulein . It’s sweet. I hope this quality is consistent throughout the entire episodes. The score is pretty nice too. It reminds me of a theatrical feature.

Just for the record, the anime nor its staff weren't responsible for the hair clips. The manga had them from the very first chapter, so the anime was just being true to the source. XD

I could seriously use a lot less *MELDRAMATIC MUSIC* playing while the characters utter *MELODRAMATIC LINES* thing.
It's as if this entire world is chuunibyou patients.
"Hey, que the music, I'm about to utter some crazy shiznit off this Shakespear poem, check this out" like every other minute.

Thank god the hot witch on the island doesn't sound like a mental like everyone else.
I like her spunky "Bitch, imma eat baked fish and survive this like it ain't a problem, just you wait till I get off here and whoop all yo' asses" attitude. Refreshing compared to SHAKESPEAR DRAMAAAAA of everyone else.

I hope to see more of her.
I wished it'd focus completely on her. In fact, let's just have a "witch kicking ass of the villain of the week" series shall we?
She'll just move from town to town, kicking asses of the miserable souls that gets in her way. Yeah. I'd like that.

Great beautiful visuals, awesome witch. Way too much narcissism.

I would like that too but we're stuck with a guy wearing hair pins. Maybe he'll get a better hairstyle as the series progresses.

True. It automatically makes me think that there's something wrong with him. Not even a part of cool Asian male hairstyles.

That music is great. You leave that music alone mister.

Seriously though this soundtrack is instantly collectible for me. I'm still going to be scraping the net for samples in weeks to come even if I'm not sure I like the show yet.

It's beautiful, but I wish it wasn't played so prominently.

Normally you reserve melodramatic music for the appropriate scene, or a climax.
Not every time someone utters a melodrama word.

Yeah well the music does tend to overpower whatever is going on in the show at the time because it's mostly as you say Shakespearean gesturing for a good chunk of it. It's a bit strange for sure.
