Technically, there has been two deaths already - Yumiko and then Seri. No idea what the Srinagar Mir did in Yumiko's case - but for Seri basically it was Orihime utilising the Fafner core to revive her and fight again.

Talk about OP. Do they even need to worry about the assimilation phenomenon since it has been shown they have the means to reverse it on numerous occasions via Sein? I mean, no good news for Kazuki I guess...

To be honest, I do think they need to be OP with the line-up of enemies that will soon come after them.

It saddens me how hard it is to find any real discussion on this show with how good its been, seriously I logged back into this site for the first time in 3 almost 4 years because this is the only site I could even remotely find an active discussion on this series. Episode 9 was awesome, I got chills when the two showed up and the message was read allowed about them joining the battle and the ownage that ensued. It's a bit of a shame that you need to have pretty much seen all of the original show, the OVA and the movie to really know who many of the characters are and their motivations not to mention what is exactly going on in the world and what not. It's truly a show made for the fans of the series for better or worse (personally I think better but it also alienates anyone who hasn't seen many of the other things or doesn't remember them).

I'm really surprised the lack of relationship development in the show considering how pretty much everyone was pairing up in the original specifically with Kazuki and Maya who really feels like both she and Canon have a one sided love for Kazuki and he doesn't really show interest in either of them at least romantically (which I assume is because he either does not feel that way about them or doesn't think he will be alive long enough to justify acting on any feelings he might have)... That or the bromance with Souchi is what they're going for XD

Favorite small moment of this season so far is when Orihime kicks Seri out of bed, I was laughing for much longer then I should have been, that's what I really like about this series its got the huge epic mech battles with tons of references to all kinds of mythologies and lore as well as having a generally interesting concept of this kind of genre but at the same time still makes it all about the characters and many of the best moments in the series are more of the small moments that aren't really all that important but have better characterization then 90% of pretty much every other show in the mech genre (Gundam I'm looking at you!)

Yes, somehow animesuki is the only forum where shows I like getting at least some attention. And welcome back

Yeah but it is really worth it. This franchise is way too underrated.

As for romance, I always felt that the show leaned toward Soushi and Kazuki. Soushi's illusion with Kazuki in the movie and the amount of time they spend together in the sequel, seeing all those scenes make their relationship definitely closer.

Also, is it weird that I don't remember Mark Nicht from the original? I clearly remember Sein and the battle at north pole, but for some reason I don't remember Nicht.

Haven't seen such visceral mech fights in a long time.

In addition, angela will release a new album called ONE WAY on May 20th, which one of the track titled Sono Toki, Soukyuu e (Until that Time, to the Azure), will be used as an insert song of Fafner Exodus (http://www.starchild.co.jp/artist/an...scography.html).
Pretty sure that was the song they used in ep 9. Gah why does it have to come out in another 2 months that song was fantastic... I want it now

Hopefully it does well in Japan, I've seen people in /m/ say its first week B/D sales hit the 10k mark, which is pretty dam good, but this was in /m/, so take things with a grain of salt.

Ah and 4chan does it again, any links? That's still pretty good isn't it? It's a tad higher than Durarara x2 was iirc, and that show was pretty popular

Dude, I’m a fan of both Gundam & Fafner, and you pointing your finger at Gundam franchise in general for lack of characterization is not cool. Not cool at all. Are you forgetting how Char is such an iconic figure in the franchise due to his characterization? And some outings like MSG, Zeta, CCA, 08th MS Team, 0080, 0083, Unicorn and even SEED & 00 are heavy with characterization? Sure, the anime is used to promote gunplas but don’t ignore what’s actually in the story.

If you want to regain your faith in Gundam franchise’s characterization, feel free to watch their most recent OVA, MS Gundam: The Origin .

Anyway, nice to hear that Exodus did well. I just hope it's true.

Yeah, but then you have Reconguista and other recent Gundam TV series, which makes me bang my head every time wondering why I'm still watching it.

The only good Gundam series lately have been OVAs.

Fafner, when comparing TV series, is light years ahead of any recent Gundam TV series. 00 was good, but I have mixed feelings about it overall. GSD... I'm still trying to erase that from my memory.

So the last, really excellent Gundam TV series was Gundam Seed, and that was a long time ago. All the other excellent Gundam series are quite old, so it's not really fair to compare to more recent anime.

Fafner Exodus is just so good. It really is hard to knock it for any reason other than everyone looks like clones of one another.

Precisely, it's as close as what a non-Japanese speaker could get to japan-known info, even if it is often unreliable.

Thanks for the link, been wondering where people get the sales numbers. Sorry if I annoyed you with 4chan references.

Regarding G-Reco, let me quote my post from another thread:
Spoiler for saving space:
As for Gundam Build Fighters, those are meant to be fun lighthearted series which is also a giant ad for Gunpla and Sunrise never shy about it which makes it totally enjoyable (at least for modeller like me ). Gundam AGE & Destiny.........well.....the less you mentioned them the better.

I hope if they do decide to make another season after this, it will set generations after Exodus so that Xebec will have an excuse to use better character designer than Hirai .

I'm not sure what you mean by unreliable. Japanese people just look through oricon's dvd chart and the Blu-ray chart and just add stuff as they appear. Oricon is not unreliable. It's practically the official chart system of the country.

Just rewatch the scene, I'm not so sure about Seri case, I think she just lose conscious due to Festum's strikes, it's not that she was dead. But then Orihime woke her up and all the wounds were gone . At least, she's still herself. Maybe Orihime has the power to cure people.

There're so many death flags that I don't know who will die first but at least death count until episode 9 is 1 .

I'm surprised you don't remember Nicht. It's the monster that attacked the island, killed Miwa's dad (in addition to a hell lot of people) and stole Soushi before heading North.

It has been years, but I do seem to recall Soushi getting taken.
