Talk about OP. Do they even need to worry about the assimilation phenomenon since it has been shown they have the means to reverse it on numerous occasions via Sein? I mean, no good news for Kazuki I guess... To be honest, I do think they need to be OP with the line-up of enemies that will soon come after them.

It saddens me how hard it is to find any real discussion on this show with how good its been, seriously I logged back into this site for the first time in 3 almost 4 years because this is the only site I could even remotely find an active discussion on this series. Episode 9 was awesome, I got chills when the two showed up and the message was read allowed about them joining the battle and the ownage that ensued. It's a bit of a shame that you need to have pretty much seen all of the original show, the OVA and the movie to really know who many of the characters are and their motivations not to mention what is exactly going on in the world and what not. It's truly a show made for the fans of the series for better or worse (personally I think better but it also alienates anyone who hasn't seen many of the other things or doesn't remember them).
I'm really surprised the lack of relationship development in the show considering how pretty much everyone was pairing up in the original specifically with Kazuki and Maya who really feels like both she and Canon have a one sided love for Kazuki and he doesn't really show interest in either of them at least romantically (which I assume is because he either does not feel that way about them or doesn't think he will be alive long enough to justify acting on any feelings he might have)... That or the bromance with Souchi is what they're going for XD Favorite small moment of this season so far is when Orihime kicks Seri out of bed, I was laughing for much longer then I should have been, that's what I really like about this series its got the huge epic mech battles with tons of references to all kinds of mythologies and lore as well as having a generally interesting concept of this kind of genre but at the same time still makes it all about the characters and many of the best moments in the series are more of the small moments that aren't really all that important but have better characterization then 90% of pretty much every other show in the mech genre (Gundam I'm looking at you!) |

As for romance, I always felt that the show leaned toward Soushi and Kazuki. Soushi's illusion with Kazuki in the movie and the amount of time they spend together in the sequel, seeing all those scenes make their relationship definitely closer. Also, is it weird that I don't remember Mark Nicht from the original? I clearly remember Sein and the battle at north pole, but for some reason I don't remember Nicht.

If you want to regain your faith in Gundam franchise’s characterization, feel free to watch their most recent OVA, MS Gundam: The Origin . Anyway, nice to hear that Exodus did well. I just hope it's true.

The only good Gundam series lately have been OVAs. Fafner, when comparing TV series, is light years ahead of any recent Gundam TV series. 00 was good, but I have mixed feelings about it overall. GSD... I'm still trying to erase that from my memory. So the last, really excellent Gundam TV series was Gundam Seed, and that was a long time ago. All the other excellent Gundam series are quite old, so it's not really fair to compare to more recent anime. Fafner Exodus is just so good. It really is hard to knock it for any reason other than everyone looks like clones of one another.

Spoiler for saving space:
I hope if they do decide to make another season after this, it will set generations after Exodus so that Xebec will have an excuse to use better character designer than Hirai .

There're so many death flags that I don't know who will die first but at least death count until episode 9 is 1 . |
