Based on the imagebook for the movie the ZZ scene seems to be there but there's no picture of him fighting in the battle against Cthulhu. (Arf, Shamal, Lindy are all pictured but he isn't).

Does anyone know when Fate starts using her white cape? I thought it would be an epilogue thing, but it looks like she's using it for the final battle.

I find this editorial decision really odd. Fate arriving just in the nick of time to save Nanoha from Vita, and then firmly proclaiming that she's Nanoha's friend (not just Nanoha's ally) was a wonderful moment for Fate, as well as for Nanoha and Fate's relationship.

I know that obviously some things have to be, and should be, different, but this particular change is just strange to me.

Yea, I really don't understand why they'd change such a theatrical and epically staged rescue with Fate and the rest of Nanoha's friends. It makes no sense; the sense of unity is what made A's the best part of the franchise.

It seems like they quickly threw a workaround to get around the Lieze twins and Grahmn. Ok, that's fine, but you could have just Fate get ambushed by Shamal during her duel with Signum. it wouldn't change anything. Normally, I could care less about details, but these aren't just details.

Given that this movie series is allegedly being shown in-universe, perhaps that is why the situation is being whitewashed. The TSAB is corrupt as hell.

As I've posted before, I'd love it if these two movies turned out to be TSAB propaganda, and then the third movie reveals it's completely lost it, turning it into a civil war with Nanoha and Fate leading the resistance. But sadly, I don't think they're that creative. The staff's writing of late has been... disappointing.

Seems to me that Fate gets the white cape after the Assault upgrade.

I'm also quite disappointed that the Fate resque scene was changed. I've been waiting for that since it was foreshadowed in Movie 1st. ヽ(#`Д´)ﾉ

Still shows a black cape here. And sonic form she has no cape at all. Unless there is a variation of bardiche assault I don't recall.


Edit: Come to think of it, there is lightning form too...Hah, shame on me. That's what I get for never rewatching any Nanoha series.

Well, in the series, Fate's barrier jacket only has two forms post-upgrade: Lightning form and Sonic Form. Lightning is the standard default one.

That picture could be of one pre-upgrade, during the first fight, but it's hard to tell.

Don't think so. The Devices match their Cartridge-system forms--you can see Bardiche with the altered blade and Raising Heart with the ammo clip.

It's entirely possible that the movie gives them new Barrier Jacket modes for the final battle. Eleventh Hour Superpower.

She has the clasps going down her stomach, so it's got to be assault form.


In other news:

Nanoha movie ranked fifth in the box office charts out of all movies (not just the animated ones) for the week -- I can't really seem to find numbers on sales, though.

Nope, she uses it in the final fight.

The only other possibility would be that she gets the white cape after escaping the dream world. Perhaps there's some actual symbolic significance in it, that would be cool. Like, a way of showing her character change/growth, coming to terms with her current life.

The new barrier jacket is Braze form.Braze form and Bardiche Zamber were used when she got away from the dream world.

FYI Bardiche's forms were renamed this time.
Assault form -> Bulova form
Harken form -> Crescent form
