New Lupin III

ANN just posted this article regarding a new Lupin III series announced in France today.

Quote:
The production of a new Lupin III anime series was announced at the ongoing MIPCOM event in Cannes, France on Tuesday. It will be the first full-fledged Lupin III television anime series to star the legendary thief character since 1984-85's Lupin III: Part III ended three decades ago. (Sayo Yamamoto and TMS Entertainment made the Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine television anime spinoff in 2012.)

The story of the new series will take place in Italy and San Marino. The series is set to have its world premiere on Italy's RTI channel next spring. MIPCOM is the world's largest international trade event for video content, particularly for television programs.

Staff:
Chief Director: Kazuhide Tomonaga

Set to premiere next Spring.

Might not be coming this Spring season? It seems to indicate that the series will premiere this year (2015) though.

EDIT: Okay, seems like it's scheduled for next month in May on RTI channels, if I'm reading this correctly.

EDIT #2: Translation of the bit in question, thanks to a friend of mine:

The stage of this series is the Republic of San Marino in Italy, and it will have its worldwide premiere on the channel RTI in Italy in May.

The PV says presented by TMS entertainment. I thought this show was done by Telecom animation. Anyway, PV looks awesome. Love the oldschool Lupin feel to it.

Telecom is owned by TMS Entertainment. So while TMS won't be directly doing the animation production (outside of perhaps production assistance), they still own it and control distribution for it.

Here is an interesting article, it states that it will be first be aired in Italy BEFORE Japan in May this year so the Italians are going be able to see it first.

So according to crunchyroll news, it will aired in Italy on August 29th.
Screenshots Preview New "Lupin III" Anime (Spoiler Warning)

So I can wait for October to watch it with Japanese dubbing and English subtitles, or, if such possibility appears, watch it earlier with Italian dubbing and English subtitles. It's may be interesting.

So, in an interesting turn of events, the first 4 episodes aired with Japanese audio on Italia 1 as a secondary audio channel on the SD Channel. To my knowledge, this wasn't advertised.

Hot damn that's a HUUUUGE name. Arguably one of the biggest name in Japanese music stage for like the last half a century.
Heck, I don't even remember Sayuri ever doing an anime theme.
Can't wait to hear it!

Oh and that OP is amazing.
Here it is.

The music is composed by Ono Yuji and the lyrics written by Tsunku♂.
This is sooooo Showa ! !
Can't wait until they come out with the full version.
This is like Suntory's CM song also sung by Ishikawa.

Finally got around watching this and it was fabulous.

The music, OP song (Japanese version), and the characters...
I like that Rebecca girl already as she is very hard to read because of her role so far and personality. Fujiko was also a nice sight to see as well. Action and comedy were fun to watch and overall, I feel like this show is really on track with the classic tone of the Lupin franchise.

Loving it so far.
