Appare! Samurai Bride 01 - Financially Shrewd, Like the Nezu Sisters
Before I get to anything else, let's get this out of the way. We've got a Houkago Tea Time reunion going on here. Gutsugutsu and Sen are reprising their roles, but Hikasa and Satou are both among the Dark Samurai. No Taketatsu, but having the core four is a pretty good achievement. pixiv, don't let me down on this. The opportunity is before you. The first episode recaptured a lot of what I liked about the first season. The awesome sumi-e esque art style. The samurai magical girl aspect. The right mixture of comedy, fanservice and once again, samurai magical girls. And a bit of alternate history. The only ones who, oddly, aren't empowered are the ones who were in the last show. Matabei/Katsuragi and Hanzo/Mirai. Though one of them might be next time, as the characters themselves discussed. Having Jubei and Muneakira nerfed is understandable, and the last battle of S1 did clearly take a lot out of them. I will never get tired of everybody treating Gutsugutsu like nature's punching bag. Seeing the "Warrior of Love" flail around is always hilarious. Who knows? She may even get a moment to shine this season... maybe. The universe needs to transfer its bad mojo somewhere. It may have been about three years since the last series, but I feel like I'm back in the groove as easily as I was then. Let's do this. |

Just what the heck have I watched? The whole drama behind the guy losing his 'general powers' is over-dramatic, it's not like he has used a sword effectively in the first season. Besides that, isn't Sen-hime supposed to be RICH and have great influence in the bakufu government?

Hurrah no ink blots! Juubei is kawaii as always. Yeah 12 episodes. 1 ova (remastered ep 12?) and 4 specials for S1.

First time watched this show. Maybe I should watch the first season first. The production company is clear about their show. They called this anime as "gentleman anime", as if gentleman's club is all about gentleman. They also emphasize the color "ink" and color "peach". The "ink" is probably means the historical setting. The "peach" is probably about the body exposure. I wonder if this formula will work again. Since it worked for Ikkitousen and Koihime. Just uses the name of historical warriors and figures. Then, change them to moe girls. Alter their name to female version. Recently, Gintama manga also uses this formula. It's for the comedic purpose.
Anyway, the character design is excellent, but the story is blah blash so far. The main casts are receiving a task from challengers. They must defeat their challengers in a month. Maybe the first season has the better story. I know it's still too early to make the judgement.

Not as strong as how the first season started... While action isn't the series' strongest point, it certainly felt better back then. The comedy didn't have the same punch as well- Sloppy is what I would call it.
But I think the one thing that bugs me the most was how the new 'villains' were introduced; How many people here had read fan fictions about mysterious shadowy figures that appeared out of nowhere with chuunibyou-esque titles while acting all smug and then curbstopping the good guys with minimum effort and then leave? Well, at least the production seem good.

Ugh, apparently I remember season 1 less than I thought I did... I remember the last battle and how it ended, but I hardly remember anything else. That Mitsu-whatever (male MC) is Juubei's brother? I didn't even remember that! Guess I need to marathon the first season before the next episode comes out.
Anyways... Episode 1 was pretty interesting. Was the setting in modern era? They were using a tablet computer thingy lol. The new characters, the maid's scouter, and the allies getting their ass kicked reminded me too much of DBZ when the androids enter the story and beat up all the super saiyans. It's pretty much the same on how the super saiyans, who are suppose to be the strongest, lose to the new villains just like how "Master Samurai's" loose to the new characters here. |
