Do you listen to Music while reading Manga?

I personally find that it helps enhance the story if I'm listening to certain music. I it the same for anyone else?

hmm, not really. I finish a manga chapter in like 2-4 minutes so there's hardly enough time to even get 1 song in. I also prefer a more quiet environment when i'm reading too i suppose.

Not often, however, I do find that I can often find several songs that fit with practically any anime/manga, or really any form of fiction. Shame I don't have the time to actually go making AMVs, I have some good ideas.

Not really, I lose the focus if I'm listening to music.

I have tried it before, I usually only do it if I am binge reading a lot of chapters at once, otherwise I think the music is too distracting and takes away from the fun of the chapter.

I've always been in the habbit of listening to music alongside anything that does not provide sound of its own.
In the past that was mainly books.

Leads to the rather pleasant consequence that each of the various books I've read has a main theme (whatever song was my favorite at the time and would play on repeat a lot ).
So while I can't really distinguish many of the books I've read over the years, because they've all become some kind of interconnected, chaotic hive of ideas and characters, just listening to one of those old songs will bring back its related story.
Everything's mind-bookmarked by song-patterns.
Same goes for manga really, but they don't suffer the blur problem as much. Because of their distinct visuals, I find it easier to remember them on their own.

Almost never.

And not just manga, but any form of reading. When I read I try to pay full and complete attention to what I am doing.

Usually I only listen to music when doing something like walking, or resting, or even driving somewhere.

I'm not much of a music listener, honestly. There are occasions where I'll binge a lot of music, but those cases are very rare. Listening to music whilst reading wouldn't be very pleasant for me. I can either focus on one or the other, never both. And I wouldn't want to hinder either experience.

Same as you.

I remember when I was reading Nozoki Ana I listened to this song a lot of times.
Spoiler for song:

Now when I listen to it, it always reminds me of Nozoki Ana.

This so much. I love music and I love reading, I see no reason why they can't go together. When I read action scenes a fast paced heavy metal is exactly what I need to take my experience to the next level. Oddly enough, I've done this for so long doing one without the other, while not unpleasant, is not as enjoyable. I read less without music and listen to less music while I'm not reading.

P.S. While writing this post I listened to Face a face by Dania Gib and Broken by Lifehouse. I mean nothing by those two songs they were just what were on my likes list on YT. This was just a fun fact.

It amazes me to see that listening to music while reading manga is so uncommon, if I were to take this thread as the reference point. I almost always listen to music while reading manga, especially if I want to read more than just a single chapter at the time. The music I turn up is usually something beautiful, but it can also vary from rock to chillstep. The genre truly depends on my mood and the style of the series I want to read.

While I haven't so much in the past, just a couple of days ago I finished the final chapters of Ore ga Doutei o Sutetara Shinu Ken ni Tsuite, I did listen to a few things that I thought really fit the plot. For instance, Breath by Breaking Benjamin kinda fits with all three of the main characters (Kazuya, Masaki, and Rika), if you think about it.

In fact, while listening to the song, and reading the final chapters I came up with new fanfic idea, actually in part inspired from the lines "So sacrifice your self, and yet me have what's left. I know that I can find the fire in your eyes.", a sort of bittersweet alternate ending where

Spoiler for OreDoutei spoliers and fanfic idea:

In fact, come to think about it, I think I have read manga while listening to music more often than I thought previously. Like I said earlier, I can practically come with a song, or for some characters even a playlist, for practically any character in any anime or manga, or anything else for that matter.

No music when reading manga or light novels its too distracting. I get into it more when its quiet and imagine some of the stuff going on how it would be animated. Other things I may listen to music while reading.

I listen to music when doing most things (except for things that demand my full concentration), and reading manga is no exception.

Some more detail to clarify:
I mostly listen to electronic music. For reading purpose I prefer to pick something without vocals and skip over more involved songs when they come up in the playlists.
(In fact this is always a good opportunity to listen to the really long/ambitious songs, that I would otherwise not have the patience to get through *cough* Black Sun Empire...).
So I guess that helps with the distraction problem.

The music does not really have to fit the type of story. After combining the two over a reading run, it becomes a match automaticly.

Also never listen to music while studying guys. Does not work.

I have been listening to music while doing so many things for so long that quite frankly, there is now a part of me that immediately goes to a memory when that song comes up.

Come Back Home by Home Made 家族 and My Pace by Sunset Swish will always make me go to Maplestory, while Qualia by UVERWorld will almost always go to Negima.

Honestly, I can just list off songs and add the correct memory of a particular series to it but the list would be too long for the lazy me to attempt.
