I'd say yes.

One of the fun parts about reading the manga was that you literally did not know what to expect the next corner. I guess it would have been the 'tighter' show if it concentrated on the main three girls' antics though. But like the constant Cromartie High comparisons, the out-of-left-field antics are a part of it.

That's the thing. The Professor, Nano and Sakamoto aren't crazy ENOUGH. They're... cute. "Oh, Nano has yet another useless function. How quaint."

The Professor and Nano can have a loose connection with the school, with all the crazy possibilities that will undoubtedly bring, and still remain out-of-left-field, instead of the Professor drawing some sharks and Nano taking out the laundry in their own little home. It's not like those random interstitions with explosions and whatnot won't suddenly be random anymore.

The Professor, Nano, and Sakamoto-san provide a different kind of humor to the show and provide the cute quota. Yuuko, Mio, and Mia provide the slapstick and other comic styles. The other characters fill in another piece of comedy as the show goes on.

I can't speak for 2ch, but 4chan is starting to lean towards liking it...just for the reaction faces alone as it provides so much of what they need.

Their different roles are even reflected in the opening. The parts that show the school cast are fast and upbeat while the part that show Nano & pals is slow and calm.

I don't have a problem with that. I just think it wouldn't hurt to mix the two. Azumanga Daioh had a variety of characters that interacted with each other in different ways throughout the series. And, no, Mio is nothing like Chiyo. Although Yuuko is exactly like Tomo.

By far the best episode of the series (so far the other episode I really liked had been episode 2), with excellent working jokes complemented by fantastic animations.

For those curious and wishing to hear it again, the music that played around 11:20 at the beginning of the yen soccer match was none other that the official FIFA anthem, by Franz Lambert. It's played in stadiums before any FIFA match, you can usually hear it while the two teams enter the field and right before the national anthems.

That moment was just glorious, I adore that tune and with no doubts it's the first time I have ever heard it in anime.

Episode 6 is somewhat interesting. In Mio's case, never judge a person before you realy know this person.

In the first few episodes, she was somewhat calm and was like a shy girl. In episode 6, she is a fighting girl, who knows some good tricks and she bought alcohol to drink some with her friends(in the episode though, she mixed up the bottles). I dont see those characters often. And thats, what i like!

Personally, I split Tomo's qualities between Yuuko and Mai (Yuuko has the loud idiot qualities, Mai with the "jerk that needs a major beating" qualities).

I liked it. I'm still very unsatisfied with directions, but some parts in this episode was genuinely funny. Camping part was very hilarious and well timed. I just love Mai so much.
