I don't quite get the fuss. I'm pretty sure that's just her wearing an upgraded fortress without her barrier jacket. Because come on, clearly there has never been official Nanoha cheesecake before. God, it's just the equivalent of a naked apron picture, except the apron is a wearable tank.

Sexy and cool in my book would have the whole TSAB mage personel wearing pant suits or suits, with necktie. Without any of those silly and terrible mecha parts. And Barney from HIMYM would agree.

The bigger question people are forgetting to ask: What is the context of this particular image? Because I'm quite sure:
... that this is this month's Force NEXT. And while the top image also has the Force NEXT label, I'm not sure where it's place is so to speak. Nanoha getting poised to slash something with the Strike Cannon though looks awesome

And it's sad how the artist of NEXT seems to forgot that Nanoha is a ranged fighter, giving her a slashing pose instead of shooting.

She's no slouch in close-combat though (one of the most badass official images of her is clashing weapons with Signum afterall), and frankly shooting poses are less dynamic than slashing & swordfighting poses. We need more variety with Nanoha's poses rather than just the standard "point weapon" poses, which we already have a ton of.

Also, on noticing the picture is labeled "Record 12," I'm not very sure it's even a technical upgrade from what we've already seen, wings be damned.

Point is that folks were wondering what happens if the Hucks succeed in dispelling our heroines' barrier jackets, and now we can guess: they're wearing underarmor now. The TSAB must have seen footage of the Galette-Biscotti war.

Someone probably asked the question: How does the backpack stay attached to her when it doesn't connect in the front and why aren't the backpack and waist unit connect to each other?
Answer: she's wearing an under-suit they both connect to. Maybe. Works for me. edit: I also like the Wolfram in this Force Next. |

Actually, they're the perfect defense against the type of attacks they're facing from the Eclipse. I think I saw something about a certain type of modern tank plating designed to deflect anti-armor hits that used a similar principle. If you want to block something extremely dangerous but don't expect your defense to survive a direct hit, you should avoid wearing it directly on your person. That's why shields were invented in the first place- a helmet doesn't do you much good when it's caved in through your skull.
Yes, I do think it's rather goofy and am not terribly fond of the current Nanoha arms race. It's one reason I'm looking forward to Caledfwlch showing its true face.

Yeah, I get that's the point of shields, but it struck me as silly ever since this appeared that they're trying to use such a static defense in a world where people can control bullets with their minds. There's only what, two of them?
