Saw few glimpses of the Fog Theathre, another real funny one I think, continues with Musashi driving Kongo nuts.

Depth 73 summary

Iona want to send an emergency rescue, but suddenly she detected on the network that Mutsu has dispatched a new fleet and heading towards here as the wreckage of Kongo gravitates towards Masushima.

Ashigara argues with Iona, saying what she's doing is illogical, as it will drag her crew into more danger and possibly another confrontation under her depleted state. It is also almost impossible to haul Masushima's wreckage fast enough because the ocean is messed up from the spacial distortions created by SCG blasts.

Ashigara made a check for fear around the table, saying "humans can't just reset and restarts" and they should fear death?....None of the 401 crew even battered an eye...

Hagoro brings up a critical message, at slowest, it will only take 8 minutes for Isse (kinda like...disabling a flagship, isn't really worth the effort anymore) to restart and be operational again, all they have is the time to get hell out...

Iona takes 5-6 panels to contemplate her feels......

She decides she will not "sink" under any circumstance, else the cherished memories <3 between her and Captain <3 will be lost.

Unless the manga skips right to the showdown between Gunzou and his father, it would be to early from a story perspective. Inside the fog there would be no force left who could oppose them.
Gunzou might have develope a grudge against her because of needlessly fighting to death and such things in the last two years. Gunzou also refused to walk the same path as his father, so becoming the captain of a fog super battleship...

Why Kita?
His arc, 'evil' politician, was already finished, so why now focus again on him? Why portray him as an 'evil' politician first and then reveal that he is actually a pretty nice guy who cares alot for people?
And there is the foreshadowing with 402.

Shouzou is a good guy and the Fog is a pro human entity

He 'betrayed' mankind because mankind is very self destructive. Remember, the fog activated because of WW2 similar circumstances, so the pre fog blockade world must have been a pretty nasty place.
Speaking of the fog blockade, while the isolation of mankind had some negative effects, on a global scale it prevents humans from fighting eachother. At least if water is between them.
Also the Fog CANNOT harm civilians on a large scale, the big boss doesn't allow that.

The admirality code doesn't do shit because she has no clue how to create a world of peace.

I suspect that it is shortly after, not before. Probably the time when Shouzou tried to deliver that letter. I think that Yamato followed Shouzou home the first stealthily and wormed her way in to the family. Yamato ordered I-401 to be caught in the first place in order to learn more about humans, and she followed herself.

Also, I don't know why you are showing Scar there. If you are referring to Kotono's face at the end of 72.5, that's a different look. She looks more solemn and worried than plotting. Please clarify this.

With the anime over, and the story lagging tremendously, I suspect that the publishers might be pushing for a conclusion sooner rather than later. And I think that it would be quite easy to have an opposition-all the rest of the Fog. This also matches with what I recall Yamato saying in the 4-koma about it being just Her and Gunzou.

I can certainly see Gunzou being upset, and I suspect that that would be the primary point of conflict that would keep them from doing anything together unless/until circumstances demand it. However, I would have to note that Gunzou has been trying to follow more in his father's footsteps then not, looking for his world or something. He also strikes me as being too pragmatic not to look a gift horse (or battleship) in the mouth-look at how quickly he accepted Takao.

We saw Kita with I-402 simply because he was the only logical available character-Kamikage is more military focused and the Prime Minister has more responsibilities. You don't want to introduce a new character just for such a tiny detail.

And he was present in the flashback because he was friends with Shouzou. A person's character arc can be finished and they can still figure prominently in flashbacks. There wasn't really anyone else for Shouzou to play off of.

While I'll agree with you on the last part (the evidence is pretty clear with Haruna), I have to disagree with the rest of your reasons.

The Fog activated by ACCIDENT at the END of WWII, so it can hardly be said that the war caused it. Otherwise, they would have woken up two years earlier.

We also don't know what the pre-blockade world was like. All of the available data appears to be keeping as close as possible to our own world, and you would think that there would at least be some mention of a major war taking place at some point.

Besides, there is explicit mention of a major war breaking out in Europe after the blockade started, which means that it was counter-productive if that was the goal.

I see Shouzou as being a guy not unlike Lelouch at the end of Code Geass R2. "Utopia Justifies the Means" and he will become a benevolent dictator.

The Fog, on the other hand, had no real clear-cut goal at all. I would mark them as being chaotic neutral.

The admirality code doesn't do shit because she has no clue how to create a world of peace.

She sent out a fleet in support a while ago, but Ise is closer, and its looking quite evident that Yukikaze will take the prize, so I'm not sure why you are emphasizing Gunzou over just sinking I-401. And if you are putting "kill" in quotes to imply capture instead of killing, then I'm not sure where you got this from. I don't remember her making any hints in that direction (enlightenment would be appreciated).

Unfortunately, Nagato just hasn't had enough screen time thus far for me to really give any credence to her getting involved like you and I hope. Ark Performance really seems to focus on a tighter cast than that, and you can see similarities with the manipulative childhood friend in their Gihren manga
