Halo Reach discussion
Bungie has just released a Vidoc with some campaign/alpha testing footage.
I'm pretty impressed. edit:For those who want to see it on youtube... Last edited by Roger Rambo; 2010-02-12 at 16:19. |

When watching it, seems that there will be a tad more of a COD feel to the game, which I think might be for the better, just as long as it's not by too much. If one wonders why I think that, it came about when they brought up the weapons, when the AR was shot seemed to me there was a COD feel there. The weapons sound and by looks of things will feel alot better than before. I never really quite liked how the ARs felt in previous games. This was always one of the points of the Halo verse I always wanted to see and can't wait! will be odd tho with out the Chief and Cortana, I'm still waiting on my Halo 4!>_<

I'm certainly looking forward to the increased scale they're offering here for campaign fights. A dozen friendly AI and thirty ish covenant troopers? This sounds awesome.
The new guns also seem very nicely tweaked. |

Awesome, WANT TO PLAY NAO
How do you figure that? There could've been a SPARTAN-III unit that the IIs didn't know about, or just simply since this appears to be before the glassing, they have yet to perish (assuming that is their final fate). In Halo: The Flood, it's constantly written that EVERY spartan except the chief is dead (according to the chief's knowledge), and we all know that's not the case.

The only thing not really clear is how Jorge is involved with the SIII program...though I suppose Bungie just wanted a heavy weapons guy in the team. |

The battle at Reach was short lived from what I remember, was not a prolonged fight(altho I may be mistaken about this) Hardly enough time for a full on campaign I would think. They said themselves that this wouldn't follow the books and would be different which was obviously a good idea.

Oh can you link to that announcement? I typically don't stay quite as up to date. Though I figure a full on campaign can take as long as Halo 1 did (only 4 days) or even shorter depending on how the missions/objectives are like and how the general story goes.

Spoiler for overview:
So I guess it could technicly be set during the original attack and resulting glassing. Its a shame none of the spartan II's from the book make an appearance it would have been nice to see Fred, Linda and kelly kick some ass.

This is a point to consider. While the Naval battle on Reach didn't last long, we don't know how long the majority of the planet lingered before the Covenant began glassing it.
I'll take the Halo CE plasma rifle with range and grenade usage instead. This does seem to tie in with an apparent greater focus on controlled firing (reticule bloom). |

Textures look high quality even when up close, but the technology in this game feels so dated. They talk about having 30+ AI in the game as amazing when other games have done that years ago and they talk about "Sandbox" when the levels look small but are disguised as massive with backdrops, hell even Crysis was critisised for its false "sandbox" but look at its levels!
All in all it is a shooter that will aim to become the standard everyday shooter. So obviously your not going to find masterpiece innovations, but hey I don't see 6million fans already on Halo3 complaining. |
