It gets the big strong ones like Kanade out of the loop, so that the rest has more chances to really show how strong they are, since results from large group matches are pretty bad indicators of how those characters would actually fare in regular season (which is composed of mostly 1v1s).

War..... fun? Not if my favorite is on the losing end of that war. (and the reactions can be just as bad if it involves trying to reach the top 16.)

I've lost my share of favorites along the way, but at least one of my favorites has survived the war each year.

Well, latest results...

The Stella results are pretty much as expected, down to the expected 1-2-3...

Then onto the more interesting Nova arenas...
Nova 7 - Yeah, Mami have no power, but can't even beat Shirayuki for 3rd is just bad. Victorique take this one as expected, being in a fairly weak group
Nova 8 - Easy one for a certain imouto...
Nova 9 - Can't say Kurisu didn't try, but Kobato madness is still around. Only thing to hope is that Kobato won't crash and burn during regular season
Nova 10 - Mato did rise a LOT. Will see her power level once the regular season started.
Nova 11 - Niku edged out Inori. I'm not nearly as worry about Niku as I'm with Kobato in regular season anyway...
Nova 12 - Homuhomu wins. But it's still not the domination that people thought she would, nor I don't see her doing well against the eventual Tier 1 girls anyway...

Results were okay, still bumed out about the IP thing. I wonder if it's going to happen every voting...

The results makes it look the ISML 2011 contestants will dominate the Nova section most likely while the newer girls might lose power later on.

Speaking of tiers, I don't think that the seeding tiers for the top 12 will be very accurate for the regular season, due to the extra large group size. We'll have to wait until they actually perform there to see how strong they really are relative to one another (in 1v1, since that's the important match size).

Last year the ones losing power were all from January shows, while characters from before then (AB chars, Oreimo chars, even Sora who was about as strong in the end of regular season as she was in the beginning of it) did fine. In fact, I think we might see them becoming more powerful than phase I shows in regular season, since people will probably check out their shows during the break between prelims and regular season.

We'll have to see, though.

I have to say that is possible too so probably 50/50 chance of them losing or gaining power.
