Wait what? Are you saying they actually did make Season 2 but kept it hidden?

The legs and the V-Fin on the central Gundam definitely strike me as likely being a Cosmic Era model. Which would suggest Sei as the builder, though I could see a new protagonist also using a Seed era Gunpla and the creative team using that to set him up as a rival for Sei.

It's nice to finally know that we're getting a proper season 2 and that it'll air in the fall, though I doubt Tomino is happy that his new Gundam series is going to be airing at the same time as a Gunpla-focused show .

The one on the right remind me of a Titans Test Team's model, especially the Kehaar.

Well, you kinda need that to fight against Neo Zeong or SD Neo Zeong (I would definitely enter a battle with the Neo Zeong Shell if I have moolah)

This series was a lot of fun, and the second series has started off pretty well with it's own story.

No confirmation on what exactly it is yet, aside from we know something new is coming

Hoping Reiji returns to pilot this, not only does it seem to be the predecessor to the Build Burning, its really invoking a Beginning Gundam vibe too despite having no parts from it

why didn't they start with original GBF ss2 first but they have to make that Try garbage?
I'm disapointed enough that doesn't even feel hype anymore. Even if the original director is back... I want Reiji as wellllllllll.

Now that I saw his daughter's face... I can see him as a pure teenager anymore

Because they didn’t have any idea how to continue Sei’s story at the time? I mean, if the studio demand a quick sequel, they might as well go with new MCs and with different approach & style after a considerable time-skip. That way, you won’t ruin the story of the original cast. GBF Try is a good compromise. Otherwise, you’ll end up with GBF Destiny . Do you want that? I guess not. At the very least, Try is as much fun as G Gundam (if not more).

I'm going to say that G Gundam was actually more fun than Try... Try was such a disappointment after the first season, and I'm going to stay tuned for what this new project is

I liked GBF quite a bit, but I liked Try a lot more.

Like it or not, Try was the better season. Take off the nostalgia filters already.

I'd say GBFT could use a little more systematical team-work when it comes to Try Fighters, the protags' team. You know, like their SR-team opponents, Black Tri-Stars from MSG, Jamru Fin-team from ZZ, and even the Black Tri-Star ripoff from Destiny. I love GBFT but even I have to admit that.

Still, that doesn't mean that we have zero team-work from the protags. They work just as good as the Gundam-team from ZZ and Victory-squad from Victory. It's just Sekai hogs (too) many spotlights when it comes to battle percentage and finishing moves (just like Judau & Uso) which is a detriment for the team-concept which is the main premise of GBFT, and the OVA really didn't help matters . Also, a number of the opponent teams are also basically just one-person show (eg. Gyanko team, Nemesis team, etc) where the minor fighters pretty much functioned as background noise or recharge-posts making it a double-whammy of low-impact team-work.

Its hard expecting that with 25 episode constraint.

Good example of fictional competition with team format would be like old anime Crush Gear Turbo, it fleshed out all teams (and the toys) well enough yet requires 60 episodes to do so. Recent one (not too old) example would be Danball Senki Ex W that do pretty good for 'team format where everyone fight' and 'each battle objectives/importance are different', still, it took 58 episodes to do so.

Making sure Sekai, Fumina and Yuuma development done while leaving more so the material 'not finished yet' are already good achievement for 25 episodes.
