For me, I only watched up until the 2nd episode. I liked the first one, it was kinda funny, but the second episode seemed like an entirely different show. And since I do not have that much time to give all animes on suki.com a chance, I stopped watching.

But to all who continue to watch, I'm glad you enjoy it.

alright planetes is a good anime I am used to watching things like blue gender, gundam, avenger and other futuristic space action animes that lack possibility, but I really like watching planetes because of what it is and because there aren't too man out there that are like it.

Tanabe will help the others who have been in space for a long time to realize that caring about small things, that have grown unimportant over the course of repetition, matter because if you stop caring about things like that you'll become less human and that maybe kind of annoying to some because people these days just don't have the time or at least don't think they have the time to care about stuff like that. there are my two cents.

I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't like this show. The reason to like it is the complete departure from what you normally get in anime...in fact, they go ahead and make fun of anime stereotypes.

Episode Six, for example...I'll try not to spoil it, but it was one of the funniest things I've seen in anime for a long time. Totally creative, and even funnier since most of us would act like ninjas given the opportunity to live in the Moon's gravity. Absolutely hilarious and I'll keep watching this show as long as it runs.

Check out episode 6 and then maybe you'll be tempted to follow the series again.

SECRET ULTIMATE TECHNIQUE! ROLLING BIG BALL! heh

The "attack of the insurance agents" episode was good for a lot of laughs, too. Just sayin... ;-)

Yup, the attack of the Naruto fanboys in ep 6 was pretty hillarious. Also, now when Tanabe fires off one of her obligatory speeches I feel a lot more like "go girl!" than "shut up bitch!". Ha, I'm really beggining to like her I guess.

Well, they also kind of made fun of that too, basically showing her jumping in and winding up into Maximum Tanabe Attack-Rant Mode, then letting her be background noise while focusing on the daring/stupid/hilarious/awesome Ninja Rescue at the end.

I guessing 7 is going to be one of the "serious crisis or discussion of defining concepts of humanity" episodes though, since they appear to alternate....

Probably. But this episode had quite a bit of of social critisism in it. The "executives living at the top and working ppl at the bottom" piece and the fact the the ninja squad were just working guys screwed over hard by some v.c. I'm really surprised this show hasn't been flamed for being socialist propaganda yet.

Oh, and I absolutely love some of the vehicle designs in this show. Last ep it was the giant flying cellphone and in this it was the giant red firetruck.

Personally I like stories like Planetes. They have a rock solid setting, and tell stories within it. The creators (and original manga artist) take no liberties with it being fiction and keep the science aspect "hard," making Planetes as close to true scifi as you can get.
I agree. Just because this is a sci-fi does not mean that it is a action or mecha show.
And I personally did not like the first episode, maybe because I was expecting
something totaly different, but I think they are getting better and better (seen 6 ep).

So from what I have seen of the show I think it is more likely that people who like
Rumic Theater will enjoy the show, then people who like, lets say, Gundam.
And if you like both, like me, than I think you should check it out.

Yeah... I like it too. Seeing them doing so many Ninpo jutsu is just priceless. Also, Tanabe is not annoying at all in this episode

This show has been slowly but surely growing on me. I agree with the positive sentiments on episode 6. I thought it was particularily hillarious. But in general I'm starting to get more and more attached to the characters and the episodic nature of the show. I still think Tanabe is a little too lippy, but the show's feel good nature and contrasting main characters make it something I really am starting to look forward to seeing every week.

After watching episode 6, I think that this must be the most hilarious episode of all. Well, the presence of the 'naruto fanboys' and their outrageous rescue attempt had me laughing in stitches...

Seriously, I think that Episode 5 was the turning point of the series, with less emphasis on the meaningless office banter and idealistic nonsense. There still might be some preaching from our naive Ms Tanabe, but there are signs that she is toning down and turning into a typical clumsy damsel in distress...

I hope this series will keep continuing in this direction, and I will definitely support it...

yes episode 6 was very funny all the way through I really like it when he like slammed his toes and when he was shot into the metal beams man it was just making me crack up. It seemed to get kind of "serious" towards the end but after they landed and were all in the hospital man lol

Episode 6 was really really hilarious. Even though I read a spoiler about the ninja thing (ahem ahem, no point in spoiler protecting that part now, is there?),

Spoiler:

Also, I certainly hope Tanabe *isn't* toning down dramatically. She's a great character, and this sort of interplay between the serious junior and her somewhat crackpot seniors, while it's rather cliched, still has a lot of dramatic and comedic value. I look forward to seeing how things continue.

The Naruto ninja fanboys in 6 were funny as heck. One shouted out "Sharingan!" right at the end I think...

I also really liked how communication was shown a bit more realistically then you see in some futuristic settings. The delay in phone and video phone for instance.

Heh... this episode is some sort of a naruto spoof... the costumes are weird, the moves are funny. The funniest one for me is the "Human Shuriken", that guy even twist his body into the shape of a shuriken.
