softsub help

not quite shure if this should go here but o well

i like hardsubs because of the way they look and when i paws they dont go away, also all the effects that they can have, but some shows i have dont have hard subs, they are softsubbed. real i dont have to big of a problem, its just that the vlc player either dosent let me fast foward 10sec to 1 min with out restarting and the same for reversing, also i can for get about pausing when i cant read fast enough to stop it, the subs dissapere. also the subs look like crap, more so than than i fist thought, bue to the bad font and the color choice done by the program.

this is my question, there are a few:

1. is there a way to change the font for the softsubs
2. also the color
3. to fastfoward and backup with the 10 sec jog thingy
4. is there a way to make the subs stay even when paused

if i think of more things to ask i will

Don't use VLC to play softsubs: It strips the styling away.

Limed for truth. VLC has terrible softsub support. I suggest you use a player like Media Player Classic or Zoomplayer with VSFilter instead (Asuki playback guide will get you started).
