Escaflowne immediately comes to mind. Great series, highly recommended.

For a more sci-fi oriented story check out Gundam 08th MS Team, still one of the best Gundam shows as well as one of the best overall romace stories dealing with opposing figures who fall in love.

The first thing comes to my mind is Macross series, a mech series that is famous for it's love triangle. The newest one is called Macross Frontier and if you don't mind old anime try Macross Plus.
The other show that I could think of is RahXephon, its romance imo is good. Other show that I could think of is Nadesico, a great show with lots of mehc anime parody and it has fair amount of romance in it. Then there is Full Metal Panic and it does have decent amount of romance. Kannazuki no Miko is also a mecha anime with romance but its yuri(which mean lesbian) but I still like the show if it doesn't bother you then I suggest for you to watch it.
There are some Gundam series with strong romance such as 8th MS Team and Gundam X

This is a fun lil topic...

Eureka 7
Macross franchise:
- Macross
- Macross - Do You Remember Love
- Macross Plus
- Macross Zero
- Macross Frontier
Dragonaut (*twitches)
Full Metal Panic
Gasaraki (I think....someone correct me if I'm wrong here)
Gundam - the entire franchise has some romantic element in each of the series, but I think it was more of a focus in 08th MS team .
Gunparade March
Platinumhugen Ordian ("Anime-Keep warned it wasn't for everyone. They even said, upon the final release, that this is for the fans, whomever was left.")
Vandread (I guess...but it was more harem in space than romantic.)

You know, I thought about it but then disregarded it b/c the romance element didn't seem to be a major plot line in comparison with the other series. I've never felt that romance was really a selling point of TTGL.

Voices of a Distant Star is a single 20 minute ova, with romance and mecha as elements to it. I used to really believe that an ova couldn't be as good as a full series because there wasn't time to have meaningful character development or even really know the characters...movies really struggled with that feat at too. Enter this just shattered every notion I had, and proved me completely dead wrong. The cost in time and money is so incredibly small compared to many shows that you can't go wrong trying it out.

Funny that you not only decided to reply to a more than a year old thread, but did not even bother to read the very first post, where the OP clearly states the shows already seen.

It's always a great time to immerse yourself in Deculture love!
All hail the Empress!!!
