^That's even more reason McGruder shouldn't have done an episode devoted entirely to Obama (it certainly doesn't help that many of the same jokes were made more than a year ago in various other shows). It would have been far more entertaining if the family simply existed the way they had before, with only Uncle Ruckus being upset, or in any way vocal, about the election of Obama. That would have been far more poignant than Huey "retiring"...but, whatever, Boondocks is back, and we should simply be happy with that

. (Can't wait for the next episode, it looks like it could be great.)

Sweet! A Boondocks thread! I usually just browse most of the threads on the forums, but I really liked the original newspaper strip and the TV show is one of my favorites so I can't resist.

I'm glad they brought it back for a 3rd season, and the new season is damn good too. The art is crisper and the animation is better. The recent episode featuring the Stinkmeaner crew and the latest with Riley becoming the candybar fundraiser kingpin of Woodcrest are already classics.

The one thing I really want to see is introducing Caesar from the comic strip. They'd have to change/exaggerate his personality somehow like they did with all the other characters but he'd be a great addition.

I wish I knew. The lyrics were hard to make it out, tried Googling it but got nothing. It's probably from a movie soundtrack (likely a Guy Ritchie film) but not one I can remember.

That's the kind of the point with Thugnificent's character though. He's all talk. Even though he's got the fame and the fortune he and the Lethal Interjection crew basically just sit around his mansion doing nothing. But he's probably been reduced to mostly cameo roles now that he's just a normal UPS worker.

I actually find Huey to be the most boring character. I like him, but apart from kicking ass with his martial arts skills he mostly sits around the house telling Granddad and Riley "I told you so" when their schemes go wrong. As the main character, they really need to give more screen time to Huey. The show has gotten Riley-centric

Figures that Tyler Perry is incapable of taking a joke. He's proved time and time again, through his 'shows' and 'movies' that he is incapable of writing jokes.

I have only recently come around to the 3rd season. Overall 3 out of 4 stars so far....

However approximately half of the episode A Date with the Booty Warrior is ABSOLUTELY CLASSIC.

Spoiler for ratings for the rest of the season...:

"Pause" - fairly random episode making fun of a Tyler Perry sounds okay on the surface, then you realize how stale and old the jokes are (really, bad gay jokes are the extent of what you can do with the abysmal Tyler Perry Madea franchise). Still, for the whole "pause"/"no homo" speech that Riley gives in the beginning as well as the very good Rocky Horror parody, I can't but give this directionless, but still fun, episode a solid B rating.

"Date with the Booty Warrior" - I've already said before that I do not like the next door neighbor Tom, so this episode that stars the character, and focuses on his worst comedic trait (his fear of anal rape whilst in prison) is very uninteresting. But, there are some good laughs from the various prisoners trying to create a list of demands after holding Huey and the others hostage during a prison riot/coup, but failing miserably since all they want is "bitches". C+/B-.

"The Story of Lando Freeman" - semi-cute Granddad episode (about a potential 30 year old son) that really is a showcase for Samuel L. Jackson's great Gin Rummy. The Gin Rummy sections get an A, but the rest of the episode is only a B-, so let's average that out to a B/B+.

"Lovely Ebony Brown" - very good Granddad episode in which he finds some real love (with a real hottie), and proceeds to destroy the relationship due to his own feelings of inadequacy. B+/A-.

"Mr. Medicinal" - Boring. Just really boring. These same jokes have been around for nigh on 40 years, so the majority of this episode is fairly uninteresting. But, the court room scenes are very funny. Additionally, what is up with the producers/showrunner putting out 3 Granddad episodes in a row? C- (would be a D without the court room scenes).

"Fried Chicken Flu" - great episode. The Obama moments are wonderfully hilarious, as are the reactions from all the African Americans to the new seasoning. Additionally, any episode featuring the ever cute Jazmine, a reflective Huey, and a great Mad Max parody automatically equal greatness in my book. A-/A.

"The Color Ruckus" - very harsh, but still funny, Uncle Ruckus episode (starting with a great Benjamin Button parody), that really digs deep into the mostly 1-dimensional character. The various moments with the Freemans and their reaction to Ruckus' story are wonderfully hilarious. B+.

It's Goin' Down" - dated 24 parody really hampers this depressing social activist episode/season finale. Still, there are a few good jokes scattered throughout (the I-pod jokes, while dated, are still funny, especially in regards to the previous series discussion in "Thank You for Not Snitching" about pointless technology). B.

As james pointed out, lot of this season's jokes felt very dated, I think the extra long break between seasons really hurt the Boondocks. If it wasn't for the break, this season would have been spectacular.

It was announced by McGruder that this would be the last season, but apparently, Sony and Adult Swim have other ideas. . .

Meanwhile, McGruder is producing a NBC show starring Don Cheadle, so if The Boondocks is continued, there will likely be a long hiatus again.

B/B-. "The Red Ball" - Perfect episode. Crazed action, wonderful jokes, mad parodies (slipping from Blazin' Saddles to Samurai Champloo to Shaolin Soccer even to George W. a few time). Just perfect. A. "The Story of Jimmy Rebel" - What starts as a great Johnny Rebel parody quickly becomes another very good episode exploring race relations in Modern America. B/B+. "Stinkmeaner 3: The Hateocracy" - Fun action-oriented episode, but the Stinkmeaner sequels are always a little boring. Besides the wuxia parodies (etc), there's not much too really like about this episode. C/C-. "Smokin With Cigarettes" - Just one long Juice and Halloween parody. A few chuckles, but not very good. C-/D+. "The Fun-Raiser" - Another Perfect episode and the best Riley episode since "The Story of Gangstalicious Part 2". There's just so much fun in this episode, plus the inclusion of the almost moe Jazmine and the endlessly profane Cindy are the icing on this excellent episode. A.
