episode 1:

sort of a grim first episode. It seems Himeno's mom died from too much work on making mugs? Maybe she was too obsessed in it, and the dad did not notice her health going bad.

Setting aside the sad past. It's a nice start to the school.year, and those mugs are so colorful. :>

More drama than I was expecting in my CGDCT but for 15 mins I can overlook it, for now at least.

I feel sorry for the girl, but you've got to admit that her bowl was a completely different shape from the ones her father liked. And her salmon was pretty bad, not to mention unnecessary.

That's being completely unfair to Himeno, who's just started learning about pottery. Her failure was simply a sign that she's still a beginner and has a ways to go yet, being a narrative choice more than anything. I've noticed this to be a recurring trend in a lot of slice-of-life discussions: why do people feel compelled to criticise and "correct" what the characters are doing all the time?

I'm just saying. She started wanting to reproduce the bowl her mother made, and she had a pretty good example in the loaner bowl, but she went for something pretty different at the design stage.

Can't imagine how stressful it must be for Himeno to be the offspring of a famous artist and feel like she has limited artistic ability.

I thought Himeno might try to make a scale model of her mom's sculpture.
