And Freedom is practically destroyed already...

Unless you missed it, as of the end of SEED, it was missing a head and a couple of legs and arms...

In case you missed the pics posted by dreamless in phase 10 discussion thread, Freedom is still 'alive' out there. Missing just a couple of legs and heads is no big deal. So far in the Gundam series, how many legs, heads and arms were wasted?

Though I wouldn't think they could go as far as to use a neutron stampeder to kill one mobile suit even if it were Freedom as opposed to thousands of nukes that can destroy several colonies.

Maybe EA will pull another nuke attempt, only this time from several vectors so the stampeder can't get them in one shot. Kira, Athrun and the Minerva Zakus sortie to disable the Windam squadrons but can't disengage from combat with some nuclear-powered uber mech guarding the final group. The Stampeder goes online, and some ZAFT commander (or Durandal?) loses patience goes like 'screw it, waste them all and let God sort it out' and presses the fire button while Athrun screams NOOOO!!!! in slow motion.

Hmmm, yeah, nice and dramatic way for Kira to bite it. Well, of course he won't, but I can have my little fantasy.

They look like upgraded Astrays (Orb's staple suit).
I guess it makes sense that those would be the ones trying to stop them from escaping.

Well considering that a Neutron stampeder took out a fleet of Nukes, Mobile suits and an armada of ships. I think it can....

Yep. Unless you're standing behind a big piece of Neutron absorbing Rock (like the Moon), anything in the path of the Neutron Stampeder's beam can be deadly. They don't even have to trigger uncontrollable nuclear reaction to kill Freedom. They just have to kill the pilot.

Actually, it would be hard to say at this point. A nuclear reactor functions as a "controlled" fission process. That means that while the neutrons are flying around like in an atom bomb, they are kept to a steady rate such that they would not go out of control. And from what it seemed in Ep 9, all the Neutron Stampeder seems to do is to set the free neutrons in a nuke moving thereby triggering the fission reaction (which causes the bombs to explode, since in a bomb the process is not controlled). But in a nuclear reactor the reaction is already triggered, the N-Stampeder should not do anything.

Of course, depending on what the official function of the N-Stampeder is, this may change.

And once again, the N-Stampeder does not destroy. It's not a beam made of neutrons. All it did in Ep 9 was to set off the nuclear missiles within the Windams's missile launchers and the battleships' missile racks, which caused them to all to explode and to take the rest of the fleet down with them. Basically it meant the EA's weapons were used against themselves.

Wouldn't the stampeder still cause a nuclear meltdown of the reactor then.
(I'm assuming that the stampeder causes an uncontrollable fission reaction.)

If that's the case, even if Freedom didn't explode instantly, it'd be safe to assume that Kira would die from the excessive radiation.

(Assuming that his ultimate coordinator status doesn't make him immune to radiation as well...

Even If The one who pilot Freedom is me, i also intend to stay clear from that kind of fire....I think that is the last thing i would be fighting with other then the GENESIS weapon
