Tribe Cool Crew Dance
From ANN: Quote:
http://www.tribecoolcrew.net/ It is assumed to air during October or Fall. It sounds like the show will feature dancing as a theme from Sunrise based on the short description. How odd.

So, it's been officially confirmed: It's an anime. Airing in the slot Battle Spirits has been in for years, no less.
Really liking the designs and the concept actually has me interested. Really hope someone picks it up. Though, giving that it's a Sunrise title, might have to rely on the not so legal methods. Ah well. |

Trailer's out, thankfully not region locked this time: http://www.nagoyatv.com/tribecoolcrew/
Click below where it says Movie for it to play. The actual animation for the episodes is 2D, though the actual dancing is CGI, which I think was to be expected. Honestly, it doesn't look too bad, though I need to see more of it before I can really get a full opinion. This still has my interest, either way. Looking forward to this. |

Sorry for the double post. For the record, it was announced for simulcast.
So, first episode aired a little while ago. Current thoughts on it: I'm actually enjoying it. Haneru and Kanon seem like interesting characters. Although Haneru seems like the typical run of the "Shonen" characters, I like how he is. Kanon, on the other hand, seems rather reserved and seems, like Haneru, dances in secret. She also has another identity (whose name I forget) that she goes online, uploading videos of her dance moves. I need to see the episode again for a second time, but it seems the series is setting up for the characters to "Team" up for dance contests. Since I'm not familiar with the dance culture, I'm not entirely sure what to expect, but so far the dancing has been okay. I kinda wish it was traditionally animated, but the CGI doesn't look too glaring or out of place for them. Seems a little bit better than Aikatsu!, which I might attribute to the series style more than anything else. Music is also decent. Although the dance music does use dubstep, it doesn't offend my ears. That to me is a good sign. Openings also decent, though on the long side (2 minutes, rather than the traditional 1 minute and 30 seconds), though there's no ending. Instead, there's an entire segment dedicated to Avex and Japan's Street Dance Association's dance tips and style, as well as contests going on. It also gives information about the dance culture as a whole. I'm not entirely sure if this'll make it into the simulcast, but I kinda hope. Because of the above segment, the episode is also a little shorter than most anime and is probably the reason there is no ending sequence as well. But yeah, definitely going to keep watching. For anyone who wants to check out the series, it'll be streaming tomorrow, over at Crunchyroll. You can find the series page here. Not sure if the simulcast is delayed or it'll be on regular schedule next week. Either way, a day late is not too bad. As for the opening, took the liberty to uploading it here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x26...pening-1_music No youtube link, since I'm not comfortable uploading this to my main Youtube account, given parties involved could flag the video. |

Ep 1
First thought? Llooks like Haneru could give Hana from HaNaYaMaTa a run her her money when it comes to Parkour. Rhythm/Kanon and Haneru are the two MC's, eh? I kinda like them both as characters, but I dunno ... the series doesn't do a lot for me at the moment, but maybe it will grow on me some? Will at least give it a few more eps....

Just watched this on a whim, and I have to say I rather liked it. The two MC's seemed interesting, and the dancing wasn't bad at all. The animation wasn't what I would normally like, but it wasn't bad either.
I'll keep my eye on this show.

I watched the first episode. The CG for the dancing was pretty good. If both dancers have new moves and not the same moves each episode, this will very good title. Loved the music.
If the plot is good and it doesn't crap out at the end, it'll be a great title.

So, for anyone who wanted it licensed, Sentai Filmworks picked up the show.
For now, it doesn't seem like we have to worry about the show getting a edited dub. |

Works for me, through three episodes. Didn't expect to like it, but I do. Liked the characters, simple and mythic. Liked the animation, the swathes of color. Liked the dancing a lot, even though it seemed a tiny bit slow, or maybe just late on the beat, to me.
The 3DCG is very good (thanks, Sunrise), but still not as smooth as what 2D can do, given enough production time. Like orion, I hope they can introduce good new moves fairly frequently. This show reminds me of Yumeiro Patissiere, which had the same good-heartedness and optimism.

The show works so well for me that I made a characters/seiyuus page, with pics of seven main characters and their seiyuus, and a bit of info about each seiyuu.

I missed TriCool - good to have it back. Not only is this show adorable and a blast, it's also a giant "Kumbaya" for drawn animation and CGI to peacefully coexist. You'll rarely see a better use of 3D animation in a mostly 2D series.
