You'd probably enjoy Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad, as well. It's the story of a teenager wandering through life, who finds his passion in rock and roll, and follows the trials and tribulations he and the band he joins face as they head toward stardom. Or, maybe it's about the influence music can have on a range of people. Or, maybe both. Like Nana, Beck is grounded in (mostly) believable characters, and an absolute attention to good music. In fact, in some ways, I actually think Beck is the better music-oriented slice-of-life/coming-of-age anime between the two (though when I consider both to be masterpieces, rating one over the other is practically meaningless). And, as a treat, the English dub is actually quite good, if you prefer dubs over subs (I, myself, have no real preference, but tend to read subs unless the dub is great). As for a second season of Nana, I always assumed the plan was to do so when the manga was finished. Unfortunately, there's a very real possibility it never will finish, as the mangaka went on hiatus due to health issues (for several years now, and continues to be on hiatus after 'recovering from her illness'). Where the manga is at currently could work as an ending though (just not a very clean one, as we manga readers have been stuck on a hell of a game changer for the past few years; though in many ways, that might actually work better to end it like that), so I suppose anything is possible.
