help on history of the hokage

hi, i am new to the forum, so please excuse this newbish question. i am following the nartuo anime but have never read the manga and did not know about if before. i am just watching the episodes of the orochimaru - 4th hokage fight again and a big question came up:

how is the whole history of the hokages. were the first and second together at the same time, or one after another. i think in one episde sarutobi thinks about when he was young and both where there with him, both at the same age as it seems.

since he is the third and the lady (dont know her name now in this second) is becoming the 5th, what happened to the 4th? who was the 4th?

please help me some on this, thanks for your time.

The shodaime and nidaime were brothers. The shodaime was the founder of Konoha.

This all happend around over 80 years ago.

After shodaime died,(who was the grandfather of Tsunade -the fifth hokage-)
obviously the nidaime took over. And after him sandaime took over.

how both first and second died is not certain, the deaths of the first and second are still a mystery to both anime and manga watchers.

The 3rd hokage stopped being Hokage when he appointed the 4th Hokage
And that 4th Hokage is the hokage who sealed Naruto in the Kyubi(nine-tail fox)

The 4th died using that seal and the 3rd Hokage took over again untill he died at the age of 63.

The 4th was student of Jiraya and one of the most talented Ninja's ever to walk the sandy paths of Konoha's main shopping avenue.

The first and the second were brothers. The First was ruling first, the Second became ruler when the First retired.

The Third is called the "Professor," and he became ruler after The Second retired.

The Third retired, and the Fourth ruled, but he gave his life to save the village from Kyuubi. Afterwards, the Third came out of retirement.

Btw the 3rd died at the age of 67~68, not 63

I am pretty sure you meant to say that 4th died when he sealed kyubi inside of baby naruto using the most forbidden jutsu in the narutoverse.

Saru said it in the manga I think.. something about, "I didn't want to meet you two brothers in a place like this."

Just look for the chapter when oro summons them. That should take away all hypothetical accusations

Actually, it's stated in the Naruto Character Data Book, which has Kishimoto's stamp of approval.
