Hoihoi-San

I don't know if this is big enough to warrant it's own thread but seeing as how there's an animated vid out (thank you DeathsSquad), I figured the popularity might increase. Here's a link to the scanlations I've been reading Scanlation

Synopsis taken from site listed above
In AD 20XX, Insects have managed to overcome all conventional insecticides.
In response to this problem, a Japanese company has created an ultra-small insect-eliminating robot: Hoihoi-san! Join one particular owner, Aburatsubo,
as he experiences the happiness and horrors of owning his very own Hoihoi-san!

My opinion
I think this is a pretty funny manga. I have no idea how anyone can sleep through gun shots occuring at my feet but oh well. Each page is a one day journal or story which makes for quick, enjoyable reading. The longest translated in english so far has been 3 pages. The mannerisms of Hoihoi-san are pretty cute. She does what she does and even cleans up after herself. I really don't think that I would want her to show me her hard day's work, but it would be cool to have one. So far you only meet 3 of the main characters and the anime goes into more depth about the shopkeeper's, Dewa Kimiko, dislike for the Hoihoi-san models, but they haven't gotten to that point in the scanlation version. The drawings IMO are done pretty well but since I'm no artist or art major you may disagree. There are some parts where it looks like her hair is transparent, but unless you're a stickler on specifics...it's not a big deal.

Has anyone else read this? Has anyone finished reading the whole thing? Without giving too much away, when does Combat-san enter?

Ahhh, now I finally know why Combat-san kept going after HoiHoi-san...it's made by a rival company!

When I saw the basic story idea I halfway expected to see something like a cross between Hand Maid May and Gunslinger Girl geared towards blasting bugs..

Hehe...how come I have a feeling that I should've put this in Fansubs??? I think the thing that will stick out to most people is the fansubbed version of it. It was funny as hell though. Actually...I want some input as to whether or not this should be re-located to that section w/ the manga stuff. I'm usually against stuff like that which is noted in the Elfen Lied thread just b/c some things happen to spill out even when using spoiler tags. In this case though...it may be the other way 'round

I though the OVA was great. NOw I'm finding the manga to be pretty funny, too.

Haha, I got the game when it first came out just because the cover was kind of cute. The game is actually kind of hard to raise money. I try to beat every mission with an A ranking or higher.

Wow...it's been awhile...so what's wrong w/ liking Combat-san? I just don't like how in the animated version she's always breaking down, it reminds me of the Roadrunner cartoons. I still like the ninja models of Hoihoi-san though.

Hahahaha maybe because [Combat-san] is considered a pest for interfering with [HoiHoi-san]'s job?

Heh. ^^

I've known about the manga for a bit, but I never noticed the OVA. Hoihoi-san and Combat-san are even cuter in the OVA. Curses! Now I really want my own Hoihoi-san! >.<

I can live with the bug corpses... honest!
(Secretly, I want to try the remote control function )

She is not breaking down. She has an after-market inhibitor placed on her that shuts her down if her programming algorithm starts to initiate an attack on Hoihoi-san. It is made and sold by a third-party manufacturer after they sussed out the market is flooded with complaints of "Combat-san is whacking my Hoihoi-san".

Pest X-san looks rad and it is obvious that her primary function is to "take Combat-san out at all cost" but what do you expect of a new product from a designer who was aiming for revenge?

The remote control function would be kind of nifty. One for the Pest x-san would give you that in your face feeling and all you FPS'ers out there would love it!!! Of course you can do alot of evil with that function as well...looks at sarc. On the model combat thing...it would be funny to just watch those two go at it, granted you can afford to fix the damage they cause to the surrounding area and themselves. At least you won't have to worry about bug guts but that's why they made gloves.
