The next series in Kaiji has one of the funniest villains and some great gaming psychology similar to season one. Despite now being a decent ending for the anime, at the quality they're giving these stories, I hope they keep going.

I already felt that only two games per season was stretching it. Most of all I'm disapointed that season 3 would only feature a single one.

I think one of the strongest reasons I preferred S1 was because of how quickly everything occurred. That huge gambit of emotions and pains that Kaiji goes through is in just a total of 2 days. Sure, he has a little time in between the Espoir and the Starside Hotel, but he spends only one night on the Espoir, and one in the Starside Hotel. Look at everything he loses, everything he accomplishes. Plus I think it's a little unfair on my judgement because watching S1 was new to me. The powerful proverbs, the struggle and push to succeed, and it all coming down to a crash was so great the first time, that it was very tough to match, let alone beat. Good thing it definitely came just under matching it for me.

Well, aside from the Walk of Death... y'know... going across those beams. Kaiji had a lot more at stake in Season 2; and yes, Kaiji has been betting everything he did (including all his gambles from Season 1) to get up to this point. With all that is at stake, the gamble at the bog had become even higher, especially when the lives of other characters have been dragged into it.

Don't let the single game scare you. I mean, Akagi only has one type of game, but the circumstances behind the game keep changing, making the story interesting. Kaiji's third arc is similar; the rules and the stakes change enough to keep you guessing.

In the end, I see it as brilliant writing, such that Kaiji will be back to square one when he's repaid his debt. And secondly, knowing that he did met his target of winning 50m/60m in 20 days, I don't really feel much pity for him.

An S3 will be interesting. The next game which Kaiji is involved in now is also pretty intriguing for me.

Oh yes, Endou is definitely the man this arc. It seemed way too convenient he'd give Kaiji a chance in the first place then you see this and things start to come together.

Yep, there is actually more at stake in season 2. And that's one of the big differences here.

It's not just himself anymore. He's not like the other pathetic trash who wallow around trying to save their own asses. He also is trying to rescue everyone else, and to prove that such acts of kindness aren't worthless.

The other thing was that I wasn't a huge fan of season 1 that much (maybe 6.5-7/10, good but nothing special). Sure the first 2 arcs were amazing and the concept of Ecard, but I found myself losing interest near the end until he cut his ear off and the tissue box arc just made me roll my eyes since I already knew it was a contrivance to knock him back down. And I was sadly right too... suspension of disbelief broken there.

While entertaining, I never took the show very seriously. I was mostly watching it to laugh at people's despair. But that's just me. When Sahara got blown off, I was bursting out in laughter even though that was fucked up.

But season 2 made me care... so.

Thinking back to the days of S1, I remember having a really hard time getting used to the art style. The story was interesting enough for me to stay, and I remember a breaking point where I just got 100% used to the whole thing.

I must say though, S2 stepped it up with the animation and the music for sure.

I'd enjoy an anime adaptation of Ten but that final arc HAS to be done with justice; no cutting corners or anything. It has to be just as powerful as it was in the manga.

*I re-read that final arc in Ten some time ago...the more it made me think about things, the more I almost shed a tear . Just a great powerful story to finish off that series.

It was nice how they tied the opening from the first season to the end of the second season. I'd like to think of "the future is in our hands" as a theme throughout all of Kaiji—it was the first thing you saw in the first-ever Kaiji chapter years ago.

Since most of you know what the third season is about since the beginning of the manga has been scanlated. I won't go into detail about that one.

However, a lot of you might be in the dark regarding the 4th season of Kaiji (where the manga is currently). These hasn't been scanned yet but I got my hands on them and have read up to volume 6. Let me tell you, this is the most cruel game they play yet. The only bad thing about the 4th part is that Kaiji doesn't participate, he's only a spectator. I've read up to volume 6 already and he's only screaming and narrating, which is a shame because this is by far the most evil/fucked up game they play so far.

It's a game called "Friendship rescue game"....yeah.

Basically this is how the game works, it's hard to explain but here goes:


There are three chairs. A bottom chair, a middle chair, and a top chair. Three contestants randomly sit in a chair. They all wear helmets, the helmets have a device within that plays loud music. Therefore they can't hear any outside talk, they can't shout to each other, everything will be muffled. They are also strapped by a belt, so they can't move freely.

The contestants cannot look to the side, they cannot turn their heads, they can only look straight.

Now, all of the helmets have a lightbulb on top of them. Only ONE lighbulb will go off per round(completely at random). The contestant who's helmet lights up needs to, within 60 seconds, get up from his chair, walk up to a table with a button on it. And press the button. That's all he has to do. And all three of them gets money. And then all 3 contestants switch chairs with each other.

They have to repeat this process 16 times in order to get 1 billion yen.

HOWEVER, if he doesn't press the button, OR, if the WRONG contestant gets up and presses the button, two out of the three contestants will die (the helmet has a device that will fry their brains).

Now, the interesting part is that the contestants themselves have no idea if their helmet lights up or not. Since there are no clues, and they can't turn their heads. ALSO, they cannot look at the timer, so they have to count each 60 seconds themselves.

Yeah, this part is freaking awesome. Too bad Kaiji is only a spectactar, but it's just as intense.

Sounds like the game is pretty insane; would you happen to have any other small details about it? I'm wondering if this is a live game show or if it's something that another twisted mastermind does to those in debt in private. Also, during the game, are the contestants allowed to help each other in any way? It seems unfair to not allow that, but it seems too easy if they do. They could come up with a very easy system: if the helmet in the front lights up, the person behind them taps their shoulder or if they can't reach, kicks his chair. If it's the person in the back, he'll see that no other lights come on and just get up and push the button. Am I too simple-minded about this here?

I'll try to explain what's going on so far...

Premise:
Hyoujo's son, Kazuya, a spoiled 17-year old who thinks that all humans are basically deceptive at heart, has challenged Kaiji who thinks humans are basically good. Kaiji risks his beliefs on the choices of the three Asian friends pictured above as well as his jackpot from the third arc (480 million yen!). The gamble takes place in the middle of the night at a seedy club operated by Teiai. Kaiji and Kazuya watch behind one-way mirrors as the three Asian friends play.

Rules:
Life covered the main rules already^^ The players can't touch eachother, but they can use hand signals, time-synchronized signals, and whatever else they can think up.

The catch:
Kaiji cannot communicate with the players. Furthermore, every few rounds the players are given interviews by Kazuya's goons in which he finds out about their history and feeds the players misinformation.

Like all the the joy we finally released just got ruffied by that low down b!tch Endo...And honestly Kaiji's friendship forever $hit made me cup my head in my hand multiple times...He atleast could have went on a date with Oldman's fug-daughter and got some more winnings ...Oldman did make me crack up with how he sped out of the crib to avoid Kaiji's bad "juju" xD...I thought he might give him some cash, but that's the breaks...

Ahhhh...I so wanted to see a few more eps or atleast wanted to believe that Kaiji was living large for more than 5 a$$-scratches...Seeing him pimped out a bit would have ruled...So this final impression (Broke, pathetic fool chuggin'-some-Asahi-beer notwithstanding) was Zawa like a mofo, Zawamofos...

Hey I can't find the Second Kaiji Movie anywhere. I wouldn't mind paying for it if it were in a theater in the US but it's not. I really disliked the first movie because it was cheesy and the acting was horrible and boring. But of course the anime rocks, it's probably the most suspenseful ever.

I am curious about the new extra game they put in the movie that was not in the anime so can anyone drop any clues?
