go Kenichi! after Kenichi returns to Elder, and Kenichi flips the fish onto the bank and then "blocks" Elder's kick, Elder gets vey big and scary. my question (for someone who doesn't need subs): is that because Kenichi has shown himself worthy and now real training is about to begin? or was Elder getting upset about something else?

To answer your question:

What Kenichi asked the Elder was that if the Seikuuken training was completed when he detected the incoming kick. Hayato goes: You've got it wrong. The training has JUST STARTED!!! (Kenichi cries out 'Please save me!' in the end) XD

BTW there are multiple levels to the Seikuuken's training,
lvl 1 = Hayato wields large clubs akimbo and attacks Kenichi from 360 degrees around (it appears as if there are around 5-10 Elder clones since he's circling at superspeed).
lvl 2 = Hayato makes Kenichi balance on a pile of rocks on the edge of a cliff while he provokes wasps (Hayato's holding a nest in his hand) to attack Kenichi, forcing him to defend almost 720 degrees around him. When Kenichi screws up, he'll fall off the cliff.

Can't wait. Imagine when he comes back how strong he will be? Maybe he will defeat Berserk? I haven't read the manga so I don't know what happens when Shinpaku is attacked.

does that happen soon in the mountains or do we have to wait a while till we see that?

i lol'd when Ogata complimented Kenichi on his mastery of martial arts basics and Kenichi wanted to hear more praise. although i think i would've laughed more if Ogata, this guy isolated in the woods, had also said "you have no talent for martial arts" too.

the choice Kenichi had to make didn't seem like a hard one, did it? i mean besides the fact that he is the hero of the series, Ogata was selling Killing Techniques and Kenichi has never been about that.

i wonder if the next episode will be Kenichi free? the preview was seemed to be "while Elder and Kenichi are in the mountains, Shinpaku gets hunted by Ragnarok." could Kenichi show up at the end of the episode and confront Berserker? i think Miu and Kisara have Freya and the Valkyries covered. ;-)

as strange as Sei type disciple Kenichi having 2 Dou type masters (Shio and Apachai)? seems the how (Dou vs. Sei) is less important than the why (fighting for yourself vs. fighting for others, for power vs. for justice, etc).

That was a fun ep. Look forward to the next one based on the previews. Should finally get to see Berserk more in action. And Baki would still crush Kenichi.

Anyway, does anyone know what happens beyond this arc when the whole Ragnarok gang arc thing is over?

Yeah. Kenichi is going against all the previous fighting animes. This anime is setting a new bar for martial arts anime that is really refreshing. If the main guy always wins, what's the point (that's why OP is the best too)?

All in all this dose not have the insta death losing brings with it some shows have,its rather nice to see the lead fail,try and fail again :P

I can think of some fighting anime where the main guy doesn't 100% always win. And at least they lose with a lot more damage than Kenichi did. It's not like he was beaten to unconsciousness by the First Fist.

yeah but in other shonen anime, the protagonist typically gets stronger by emotional events and not non-stop training
