Hahahaha, that's a very fitting picture. I haven't seen Lost in Translation, and I've only "watched" (read: tried not to watch) The Return of the King, so I can't say which one was better. Still, 11/11 oscars for LOTR = catering to the fanbois just a little too much. How were the Oscars, btw? They don't seem to have been too interesting.

Yeah since none of the actors got nominated whick kinda sucked. I mean the ROTK wouldn't have been this great if it wasn't for the stellar acting (IMO anyways). *Aragorn=sexy man-beast XD*
Wow 11/11 is phenomenal! There's bound to be "a few" grudges after this. That's awesome, it really deserved it! |

well anyone can argue that lotr 1 and 2 were ALOT better then 3, but i beleve that they gave it to them, because they did such a great job on a triliogy on a book.. Now if you think about it, there arnt that many good tillogys out there that are on books. That is y i believe that they gave them all those awards..

Well, LOTR was a great project and it truely deserves the 11 Oscars it won. I'm just glad that its only 11 Oscars, not 33. Just imagine how many good movies like Lost in Translations would be snubbed if LOTR sweep everything for three years running.

Well, in my opinion, The Lord of the Rings- The Return of the King really deserved all 11 Oscar.
First, it's obvious and it was stated before that they actually premiered the trilogy, and not the own movie, by giving 11 Oscar to The Return of the King at once. Second, it's obvious that it's impossible to make a trilogy as great as the books. But an ubberly wonderful version of it, was possible to be realized, by master Peter Jackson, who worked hard with all the cast, and all the people who were involved in this great project. One of the best movies that have ever been made. So, I'll say again: it deserved the 17 Oscar (the actual number of Oscar the trilogy won- 11 for ROTK, 2 for TTT and 4 for FOTR). Actually, it deserved much more- it was a injustice to give the Oscar to Chicago (a horrible movie, in my opinion- boring and with a horrible plot) instead of giving it to The Lord of the Rings- The Two Towers, or even to The Pianist, which was a much greater and beautiful movie. To A Beautiful Mind, I understand- even The Lord of the Rings- The Fellowship of the Ring being a much greater movie IMO, A Beautiful Mind is a wonderful movie too, and it's the typical kind done to win the Oscar. Well, this is in the past by now- it's useless trying to complain about it now. So, with Oscar or without Oscar; The Lord of the Rings trilogy was one of the greatest projects ever, and will be unforgettable, just like the Star Wars and The Godfather original trilogies. |
