Slow Video Playback
I recently downloaded Kanon episodes 1-13, Kazahana, and the Special. I run it with Windows Media Play 9 Series. The sound is perfect, but the video portion can't keep up with the sound. It goes really slowly, then freezes, then skips ahead to try to keep up with the sound. Setting my video acceleration to full helped it very little. My Marvel Versus Capcom 2 tournament clips work absolutely fine though. I'm just having this problem with these Kanon episodes. The MVC2 clips are in .wmv format, while Kanon is in .avi. Kanon is also about ten times larger too. I have 120 MB RAM and my processor is 480 MHz. Kanon runs fine on my brother's computer which is much faster, but I still find it strange that my other movies can run well but not Kanon. Any suggestions? I also have DivX 5.1.1 codec.

I'd suggest using a different media player.
Maybe BSPlayer. I had the same problem, and BSPlayer greatly decreased that audio/video sync problem. It's not perfect through. Next thing you need to do after that is upgrade your hardware.

The best possible player for slow systems is Media Player Classic. Here is WinXP download. Here is Win9x/Me download.

Got BSPlayer to work. It runs relatively well, but the video still trails behind a few seconds. I'm using FFDShow-Alpha codec. It gets really annoying when I'm hearing something but not seeing them say it. Media Player Clasic, mplayer2, RealPlayer, DivX Player, and Windows Media Player 9 Series all lag a lot. BSPlayer runs smoother. Anything else I can do to try to improve the speed? Zoom Player Standard didn't work well for me.

Get the latest ffdshow. It reduces the memory overhead.
