Hey, I have a dilema and I need your help! I'm planning to cosplay as someone from Umineko, but I'm having trouble deciding.

@ Beatriz wow Thats your hair? :0 Thats really good!
@tastythoughts Cosplay anyone you want my dear. XD It depends, a lot of people might not know who Siesta 556 is because she never showed up in the anime and at cons, most people recognize anime characters. :3 Ange is fairly easy too. |

Couple questions for specific cosplays here.. BD;
Where can I get Bernkastel socks? They don't need the blue ribbons, just need to be white with the lacey tops.. and go just below the knees. Where can I get Erika pantyhose? Brown, rose patterns here and there.. you know. Anyone have any idea about purple contacts that aren't expensive? If not, I can go without contacts, but.. yeah. Where on earth can a girl get a Sakutarou wig? Orange in back, yellow in front. Ears don't need to be on it, I can probably find ears and get them on myself somehow. I just might wanna cosplay him someday. Also, anyone know of any sites selling Siesta/Stake cosplay? I know Yahoo Japan has some, but.. it seems a bit complicated to buy from there. I'm mostly concerned about the Bern/Erika stuff though, so please help if you can. <3 |

I have an odd question, how much is too much for a costume? I contacted a kinda local costume maker called Limebarb.com and did put that expense wasnt an issue for the quote. I did this expecting the quote to be around 3-5 hundred dollars instead I ended up with this quote..
Eva-Beatrice - Umineko No Naku Koro Ni hat: $55 styled wig: $65 (will not need since I look alot like Eva-B already including hair style and color) mantle: $80 layered dress: $350 (matte satin) petticoat: $55 gloves: $35 staff: $135 (made mostly in wood) $710.00 before tax... Thanks to my tax return if I chose to purchase this I could but do you guys think this is a bit extreme or does it sound right. I do want a photogenic room stopping costume but I am cringing on the cost a little.. What do you guys think?

That's actually pretty reasonable. Yes, it's more than what you'd pay on eBay, but most mass produced eBay costumes are made out of sweatshops by people who rarely speak English. when you buy a costume on eBay, it's hardly ever made by the person you're corresponding with. When I began cosplaying, I did this quite a bit and would never be satisfied with my work. Measurements would be off, the fabric and trim would be of poor quality, and they hardly ever did props, shoes, or accessories right. Limebarb currently has a good reputation as a cosplay commissioner, though she hasn't always been that way. You're the Eva-Beatrice who's going to ACen right? Limebarb is local to Chicago so you might be able to go in for personal fittings, which makes a world of difference. That's what I did with my commissioner for my Beatrice gown. Not to mention, she's not quoting you for just the dress, but for the entire ensemble. An good unstyled wig generally runs between $30-50 alone, and that doesn't include a style fee. Patterns have to be drafted for the accessories and the dress (and from what I know of limebarb, she has a custom pattern design program on her computer and prints them out. Which is pretty cool). If you plan on wearing your costume more than once, want good quality, and want it to hold up, I think this isn't a bad place to get it from. You can probably have custom fittings, pay in increments, and can probably get it altered by Limebarb if there's any issue with it. Otherwise, I'd recommend http://www.godsavethequeenfashions.com or http://www.thehouseofcanney.com . Cathy does amazing work for anime, comic, and game costumes, and Anthony creates some beautiful gowns. Hope that helps! |
