Zoro wants to be greatest swordsman of entire world, guy like that should have pretty decent haki and most likely haoshoku aswell.
Just because he is not a captain of the crew does not mean he should not have haoshoku. |

Hey, with a 2 year time skip there is plenty to speculate about...
-What will the strawhats look like in 2 years? Ussop feels like its uncertain how he'll look after his time; Franky's looking to get an overhaul; I might imagine Luffy to look a bit more mature after these two years... -new bounties? -Who will be chosen as the new fleet admiral? Aokiji has the recommendation, but i feel like the WG would prefer Akairu's absolute justice -Who will replace the missing Admiral? Will one of the VC's step up? will it be someone completely new? or maybe that seat will be held and Smoker will rise to the call... -Who will be the 3 new shichibukai? Right now there's a lot of speculation on Buggy, but that's still two more seats... will they be new, or maybe an old face will pop up. -What is the deal with Bonney and the WG? -What of Duval and Shakky who was last seen guarding the Sunny as Kuma showed up? What fate shall befall the sunny? ah yes, much random speculation to be had |

Sanji is learning Okama kempo. Although, Ivankov's death wink could be extention of his aura (armor haki), he seems to favor Mantra as he seems better at dodging attacks, reading his opponents' weaknesses than actually taking a hit. Ivankov's aura haki wasn't good enough to completely make him invulnerable to the effects of Magellan's poison but he seemed highly resistant. So, even though Okama kempo can lead to one being highly skilled at armor/aura haki, it seems like the fighting style focuses on Mantra and building it at to an extremely high level. Zoro is learning from one of the greatest swordsmen alive. His fighting style will require he favors neither aura haki or mantra. He will have to extend his aura to his blades. He will have to make his aura tough enough to withstand an opponents blade. He will have to be able to read the intent of his opponent and look for openings of attack. Also, Zoro has always been a fighter than can take a hit and dodge equally well. Chopper, Franky, Brooke, Nami, and Robin seem to be under much friendlier and hospitable conditions but is possible they will at least gain some grasp of mantra, the most accessible of the three forms of haki. Chopper is on an island with powerful birds and humans. The natives may have some moves up their sleeves. The library may contain some books about fighting. He may also pick up armor haki through his studies in other forms of medicine. Maybe he will pick up something like Chi Kung, learn to manipulate his aura in order to heal. He may hone his mantra skills by accident, in attempts to diagnose a patient faster. Franky is locked up in a lab. He may pick up some mantra by reading the cyborg animals around him or maybe he will give himself implants that give him powers mimicking those of haki. Vegapunk's research delved into such things. He could infuse weapons with devil fruit powers. The goal of the Pacifista project seem to be the creation of an artificial construct capable of subduing powerful devil fruit eaters and haki masters as those found in pirate and revolutionary forces. Robin is going to meet with Dragon. Nothing is implied beyond her joining the revolutionaries in some fashion. No idea if Dragon will take her in as a pupil. May pick up some moves from other revolutionaries or in their training facilities. She's always been good at "getting away." Nami is on Weatheria. She may hone her Mantra skills. Weatheria may have a history with Skypiea as it is also a floating island. Rayleigh mentions that Mantra is the name for Skypiean name for this sort of haki phenomenon. Mantra may come in reading the climate of the planet. Brooke, he'll pick up something. Only Usopp, Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy are under tutelage of masters of combat and are training for actually combat. The others are training for other things, some without teachers but that doesn't mean they won't be able to pick up some moves. Last edited by mechalord; 2010-08-26 at 14:59. |

Chapter 597
I am glad Oda finally revealed haki finally. This was a good chapter and nice way to end it before the long break. Which I think Oda deserves. Good job Oda! Haki That was awesome. I was always wondering what the Admirals where doing in Chapter 551 page 14 and Chapter 564 page pages 8 and 9. I never really thought Enel has a haki user either. But that was surprising. I think Zoro used haki during the battle with Mr. One in the Baroque Works saga. He didn't get hurt by the building. When he described it he knew were rock would land. That would be cool if Zoro could use Mantra. I expect all the Straw hats to use some sort of haki in the future. Shanks I wonder if Shanks used the Haōshoku Haki on Kaidou to end the battle quickly? The Marines were surprised how quick he was able to get to the war. I also Wonder if Shanks tried to match Haki with White Beard when talks broke down. |

Also the 4 week break is going to a killer. But I wouldn't want anything lackluster either. Take your time Oda-sensei!

@Darmill: Yeah, that's pretty much the point that I was trying to make before when I said that Oda deserved this break, but you worded it a lot better than I did. Needless to say, I agree with you 100%.

I won't comment on the rest (for now), but I still find it funny that people think Usopp of all people would be incapable of controlling Haki. If anything, he's probably one of the most naturally suited people in the crew to wield it. Just look at his ambition.... to be a brave warrior of the sea. Wouldn't you agree that a dream like that would require one to have a strong will and determination (which, I may add, are the very type of things that Rayleigh points out as being synonymous with Haki in the first place)? We've also seem Usopp undergo a lot of character growth throughout the series (in fact, he's arguably had the most growth out of anyone in the crew so far (aside from Robin, I suppose....)). And as for his battle skills.... heck, I'm still impressed that he lasted as long as he did against Luffy at Water 7. That match alone is proof enough to me that he's capable of taking on higher-tier opponents in the future (not admiral-level opponents, mind you.... but I can definitely see him being strong enough to take on a VA at some point). As far as Usopp discovering his latent ability goes, I wouldn't be surprised if Hercules taught him about it. I mean, the guy lives in a freaking flytrap island that regularly devours sea kings. How would he be able to survive in a place like that if he didn't have a strong disposition? And even if he didn't teach him, do you really think it would be impossible for Usopp to learn how to control Haki on his own? Because again, considering the environment he's in, he'll really need to tap into his survival instincts if he wants to leave that place alive....... Quote:
While I'm not really a fan of Eneru (sorry, but I just find him to be rather boring), I am actualy interested in seeing his eventual return to the series at some point with his moon army. After all, by then we should learn how the moon civilization is connected to the lost history..... BTW, I have similar sentiments about CP9. While I don't really care for about half the agents (ESPECIALLY Lucci), I'm still interested in seeing how they'll affect the story now that they're on the lam from the WG. That, and I really wanna see how its monster trio will look as Awakened Zoans. |

There are still a lot of unsolved things in One Piece....
Like what on Earth happened in Impel Down after Mr. 2 and Magellan fights. Is it ever shown that Magellan is unscathed. Who will be the third admiral, what will happen to the recruit Django, what happen to Urouge and X Drake, does Law will tarin Haki himself so they will go to New World the same time as Luffy...

That was a pretty epic chapter. It's wild. Not only is there a one month break, but a two year time skip. That month is going to feel like a two year gap. lol.
I have a theory that when the anime reach this point. It may return as "One Piece: Shin Sekai". One Piece New World. The same way Naruto became Naruto Shippuden. I wrote a guest article about this issue on an anime news site and it got put on the front page.

Well, one of the ones I think will have the most importance is the Kidd pirates. Eutass Kidd isn't going to let Luffy off so easily given how his 'decoy actions' could be interpreted as 'I'm ringing in the New Age', which is an insult to his pride.
