@ Sworn to Believe: I like the "other" version better than version 1. Like Hooves said, the text is easier to read. Plus the darker edges moving to the lighter center makes the picture more dynamic and gives it depth, in my opinion.

Mmm, I like what you've done with it! New background fits, and I disagree with the comment to change the red leaves to yellow...if you do that, I'd find the colors very monotone. I also like your idea to change the text to kanji and to move it to the leaf. Right now, however, it still looks just slapped right on the leaf. I'd play with the text's texture and color a bit to blend it more in so it looks more natural.

I agree with Marina about the text. I think it would blend better if you used a clipping mask

but the single white leaf does bug me a little, but not that much.

Wow I really like it

Nice job with the lighting and shading of different parts of the signature. That's what stands out the most to me

The only thing that is bothering me is the text and that is only a little bit

Its most likely just my personal taste in fonts. But you did a really good job considering your sotm hiatus
