@chronotrig:
Spoiler for Re: EP7:
@Arcanis: Look to chronotrig's answer and this one above. That was the "main" reason for my previous post but you are right, I guess that is how Ryuukishi did it in Ep7 (though I can't verfiy currently as my knowledge of the Japanese language is extremely limit it (for now at least). |

I've already finished the patch, the translation is superb, as always.
I've been wondering something. Do you know how many words has one episode of Umineko? (approximately of course) I think this is the shortest episode so far, isn't it? Best regards. |

As the final scene ended, I thought, "Patch over? Already? ;_;" That probably just comes from playing 6-7 hours straight, though. |

I modified a Perl script to count up the words in each chapter:
Chapter 1: bytes 726, 878, words 138, 513. Chapter 2: bytes 663, 287, words 126, 783. Chapter 3: bytes 758, 546, words 146, 374. Chapter 4: bytes 838, 049, words 161, 610. Chapter 5: bytes 684, 563, words 131, 394. Chapter 6: bytes 722, 078, words 140, 107. Chapter 7: bytes 351, 321, words 68, 871.

Anyway, so by this estimate, the total word count of EP 7 will be about 140,00 words -- around the same length as EP 6. I'm still not done with the 50% patch, I don't know how you guys get through them so fast! I'm not a slow reader, but I take a lot of breaks, I guess. Plus I worked on Wednesday and Friday and couldn't read during the day. XD edit: Okay, this reminds me. Once I got my download problems sorted out, I really loved the ease of the Hobibox download. I've never really tried to get my friends to play Umineko before because of the difficulties associated with purchasing the game, changing locale or language, installing the patch, etc -- you have to be a bit committed to the story to go through with it all, really. However I think the download version is easy enough that I could convince them now. XD One question though -- so with the Hobibox download, is changing locale or installing Japanese language support necessary? I already had my computer set up from playing EP 6, so I wasn't sure. There's nothing about it in the instructions for downloading, so perhaps not? |

Actually, it already is. Though I have no idea if Ryukishi is the one writing this (although I think he is) or if it's someone else. Which reminds me, I still need to read it. Last edited by crazysjd89; 2010-12-04 at 17:53. |
