Not necessarily. This may be the one time the queen is fertile and able to produce children. But that doesn't necessarily mean she and her mate can't go through the motions later on.

Plus they only have to artificially inseminate her nowadays and the guy wears a condom until he dies. That would solve most of the problems assuming that the virus is a variant of AIDS where it's not much of it in oral fluids.

Or the guy becomes just a sperm donor and she can skip the relationship thing and spare a planet of annihilation.

If the solution was that simple it wouldn't be much of a plot... Also somehow I kind of doubt she'd go for that.. If supposedly theres some problem with a guy doing it and staying on the ship I really doubt artificial insemination seems like something that's going to happen...

What a nice arc. As far as protectors of the Earth go, that irresponsible prince makes me feel a lot safer than the hot blooded determinators we usually get.

Eh the ending was a bit of a let down and rather anti-climatic. I was hoping for some personal resolution for Mikihisa with her gender identity crisis, rather than some ham-fisted deus-ex machina set up. It really felt underwhelming, especially when we saw that small dream sequence flashback of her story.

Couple things.

First of all, Kraft is not in a position to tell what Saki to do and what not to do. There is an organization called United Planets (equivalent to United Nations in universal scale). The survival of a member race should be held in highest regard and best protected. Any intervention is considered as a breach of a law. On the other hand, Earth is not a member of the said organization so human beings are expendable and not protected by the law.

Second, while the Saki's race is treated as the certain cause of destruction in anime. In manga, it's not. Saki's race keeps good secret of their biological information so they are only suspicious at the best. Therefore, any suggestion of Saki's risk can cause serious inter-planetary tension.

Finally, it's against Saki's tradition. Saki's future husband is not supposed to know Saki is an alien. A spaceship is gonna spoil her true identity.

Tthe end of this manga chapter shows a floating dead fish (seemingly killed by some virus). Baka may not be honest to Kraft.
