Fairy Tail Anime Episode Discussion Thread [Episode 165 and Onward]

A friend of mine who only watches the anime and for whom I haven't spoiled anything thinks that Mystogan is the real Jellal. He hasn't told me how that's supposed to work though...

"That geyser" wasn't in the ep. Title of episode fooled me into thinking he was going to be in it. Based on the manga he should have been in it 30 seconds to a minute or two after Gazille got jealous of the other dragon slayers having cats...

Also I don't mind short fillers but is Natsu vs Gray the best they could do...

If Natsu goes dragon force the fight will be over in 3 frames (5 minutes tops if he doesn't), only transportation could cause Natsu to loose this fight scratch that, Wendy is there to cure Natsu. However this season has 3 more episodes, if I recall correctly, so just how long is this fight going to be dragged out?

I just love Gajeel's reaction to the whole cat thing. He's a dragon slayer so why the heck doesn't he get a cat too ? The guy seems really bothered by being left out of that.

How is Natsu supposed to use that dragon force ability anyways? He was only able to do it thanks to super powerful flames or magic, neither of which is in that room. Without it the fight should last for plenty of time as they try to figure out what's been done to Gray.

Anyway, needs more Gildartz. It's not like it would have hurt to introduce him before this filler arc, would it? Heck, it might have made it even more appropriate.

How i've missed the other members of FT. Gajeel was the best wondering where his neko was. Also enjoyed Juvia's tears.

So Lucy did in fact get the other 3 zodiac keys. She's getting stronger and stronger. Now Loke and Aries can be together again.

Well Daphne is annoying. Suspected something was wrong with Gray from the beginning. Gajeel is in fact smarter than he looks.

Like how they showed Mystogan staring at Wendy which throws another wrench into things.

Is Erza's attacker also filler? Liked how she ordered 49 cakes for herself.

First half of the episode was superb, the rest of it was alright. The new short - arc isn't all that interesting to me, hope it ends soon. I loved it how everyone accepted Wendy with open arms. They even believed her that she is a Dragon Slayer.

And lol at Gajeel, he doesn't have a cat. Poor guy.

This useless banter between Gray and Natsu better end next arc although it's highly unlikely, it would take a brutal love potion arc to shut those two up.

I don't really agree with the "filler" criticism. Frankly, if any series ever needed filler it's Fairy Tail. It just lurches from one giant arc to the next. And they're good arcs - very entertaining - but it's nice to get a break every once in a while. Both to catch a breather as a viewer, and to see the characters interact in what passes for "normal" situations.

Has he released Fuyu (winter) yet? If so what is the title of that work?

The thing is I think this filler is going to end up just like the normal big manga arcs (except possibly with continuity or characterization problems).
And unlike the breather breaks you're suggesting it'll be. (Which we've had as anime original, manga based and a combination of both.)

Other than that I personally am very interested in how this arc is going to end up. I think it's because at this point we don't really know anything about the villains goal unless it actually is to ground up dragons and put them into diet snacks. I did find everyone's reaction to her infomercial persona pretty funny though.
Anyway most people seem to be speculating that Gray has been mind controlled but I'm wondering if he's actually playing along with being mind controlled to work out the villains plans.
Somehow that seems like something Gray would do and Daphne doesn't seem powerful enough for a proper mind control.

I think Daphne is pure unadulterated evil.

Mainly because her hat looks a little too similar to QB.

The fact that Fairy Tail travels from arc to arc is what a lot of people like about it. It doesn't waste anytime in getting to the point, so i'd hardly say fillers are 'needed'.

Need is subjective. My point was mainly that I think this is the wrong series to criticize when you get an occasional filler episode - probably the last series you should criticize for it.

Just speaking personally, I certainly enjoy a break of an episode or two every once in a great while.
