Sengoku Collection
Original creator (social game) : Konami Plot summary : The story is set in the tumultuous Sengoku Era of historical Japan, when military masters circle the figurative throne of Japan's first shogunate. In the game, "God of War Cards" have been sealed in six hidden treasures, and fighting breaks out among those who seek the treasures. As a new military master, the player embarks on a journey to obtain the treasures by clearing quests and fighting bosses. The anime's main character is a female re-imagining of the great warlord Oda Nobunaga (pictured below right). Another major character is the female version of Tokugawa Ieyasu (pictured top left), the first shogun of Japan.

And Nobunaga looks like Kyouko heck the first I saw her it's Kyouko though I don't see a resemblance on Sayaka from Tokugawa.

^ Lies, Kyouko isn't stacked.
Probably the only recent anime that portrayed Tokugawa as a guy is Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon, wherein Tokugawa Ieyasu (known in the series as his old name Matsudaira Motonobu) is a male.

The gender-bent Sengoku Warriors were more present in the games/manga than the anime industry, right ? Look at Sengoku Otome, I think it's the first anime featuring full-fledged gender-bending Sengoku warriors.

Great, another gender bender... I swear the ideas behind these are "let's teach otaku about history by replacing all the guys with cute girls!"
probably won't be watching this one, unless it's the one where there's actually a guy as the lead character amongst all this generbending (and I know I saw a title for that, but I don't remember if it's this one or another one)

O~kay then, moving on...
emotO ukogneS 01 - Thursday is Rumi Ookubo Day So we begin with a complete inverse of Sengoku Otome - instead of a modern day Tokyo girl falling into the past, we get the genderbent version of the past falling into modern day Tokyo. While both Megumi Toyoguchi and Rumi Ookubo are Nobunaga, it's fun seeing how each story interprets the character. Ookubo's is just as confident, but a little more naive. Though Toyoguchi's was a bit more subtle in her anger. I suppose a modern day foil for the girls was needed, but the character's so broadly defined he could've easily been a girl and the tone of the story wouldn't have changed much. At this point, it's still more like a close and really odd friendship anyway. Aesthetics-wise, this series is the closest to Milky Holmes this season, which means I'll be paying close attention to it. It's solid, and that's always a nice first step. To ephemera, to products of their time. May they define the era they were produced in - be that era the Warring States period or 2012. |

Am I the only one that found the animation to be terrible? They didn't seem to put much effort into it, imo. Idk, I found the first episode to be alright though. I'll stick around.
