Frankly, don't worry about the L/R nonsense... the actual spelling is "ホロ”. Pull out any book on japanese romaji rules and make up your own mind (keeping in mind that Ainu words are spelled with katakana).
Anyone reading the thread will know who you're talking about whichever way you spell it.
