Well that sucks. Things were looking perhaps too good. Sadly if one person wants a fight then it's really hard to prevent them. No matter how much the Princess and the old woman want peace, when tensions are that high one person can start a war. The question now is how bad is this going to get? How much damage control can Aladdin do here?
On a lighter note, good work by Alibaba with his money. Paying off his debts, freeing slaves, and waiting for Aladdin to get his ass back there. Got a chuckle that the frightening woman from the first episode was brought along with the other dancing girls . Nice chat with Morgiana who is...pretty sure she's grateful . Yeah, that's always a good plan. I'd have to assume he was forced into the Princesses party. Either because someone wants a whole lot of bloodshed, or they'd rather shove the trouble of dealing with him onto someone else .

I spent half the episode nervous whenever they had a nice peaceful scene. I was expecting a surprise attack the whole time, and bam, in the end it happened. *sigh* Oh well, it was expected, since the showed that jerk of a general with the princess.
The only way this can be resolved semi-peacefully is that the general must die. Only then will things move forward. I'm wondering if Alibaba will suddenly reach them in time? Oh, so yeah, this tribe was truly based off of the Mongolians afterall, and it looks like the princess is from Imperial China.

Enjoyed the episode. A little diplomatic complexity. Joining an empire voluntarily rather than being beaten into it is a very rational approach, it seems to me. How will the reasonable princess deal with the unreasonable general? But it is perfectly normal to bring your top general to a diplomatic meeting. The thing is, you should have him under your control before you go.

Well I was thinking it might no be a conscious decision, but something more like how a Kirin chooses a king in Twelve Kingdoms. They're instinctively drawn to whoever is fated to be king. I got the feeling it was the same for Aladdin: he didn't even know he's a magi, or that had to choose a king candidate, but he ended up meeting Alibaba and felt drawn to him somehow. He chose him, even though he didn't even know he did.

^ yup that's also my take on it, after all AMON acknowledged it and he definitely know more about the process than both Alibaba and Aladdin. and they did clear the dungeon together... remember that door thingy with two right hand key-locks. All others after this including stating it verbally would just be formalities then.

I figured something like that was going to happen, but the ending was abrupt. If the old lady doesn't survive, then I don't think there is any chance for peace. Her "children" won't forgive the other side so easily.
I enjoy the diplomatic aspect of the episode. I hope we'll see more of that down the road.

I hate this term so, so much though...but goddamn Aladdin is sooo moeee and hilarious in his love for teh bewbs And I'm glad that the slave girl's going to be sticking around. Nice to see a kickass female this season(along with the chick from Psycho Pass) that's not going to be just used as fanservice (Booby General from K, I'm talking to you) |

I'd swear Tomino was writing this with the two very similar sounding kingdom names in Kou and Kouga and if I had to guess I would imagine that the Kou Empire is destined to be one of those antagonistic militaristic villain factions that just so happens to have a lot of otherwise good people in it. Kind of like Zeon from Gundam or the Archadian Empire from Final Fantasy XII for example. Too bad the classically peace oriented princess always seem to have issues controlling their armies and there always seems to be at least one war mongering general/prime minister/vizier what have you that loves to spoil their otherwise good intentions. She seemed pretty serious about letting the Kouga keep their way of life in exchange for joining the empire (a common tactic used by the Persian Empire to avoid unnecessary campaigns and keep the potential for rebellions lower in ancient history who I think the Kou are supposed to be an allegory for...maybe?), but alas that can't be now that Baba is dead.
I guess it falls to Dolge and his Asuna Yuuki clone wife to lead the counterattack and surely Aladdin will be there to try to stop things from escalating too much, but I think it's going to fall to whether Hakuei can find the strength of leadership to control her army and wrest it away from Ryosai that will decide the level of bloodshed. |

I thought I was the only one. Her red and white clothes made me thought it was Asuna at first.

Looks like Alibaba was bored without Aladdin.
At least he did something good with his treasure. Aladdin met some interesting new friends. Those Kou empire people were not very nice. Seems like Aladdin always shows up somewhere where people need help. That Granny was really nice and has some interesting things to say.

On that topic though, I guess this answers where Aladdin gets the staff shown in said ED. I suppose he'd carry it with him as a reminder of Chagan.
