So... Plot summary. Magical girls. Because science.
I am glad that this hasn't (yet) gone full out Strike Witches in terms of its fanserivce. While the camera did make sure to give full views during those posterior shots that we did get, there were a lot fewer of them than there could have been. Which is just as well, I think. Let Strike Witches be Strike witches, and Vividred be its own thing. No need to go out of your way to make people draw more comparisons between them than they already will. Anyway, I liked this episode. Everything in it was entirely functional. The characters all work, no real issues with the plot, nothing bugged me, so I think I'm good to keep watching. Let's see how this turns out.

I had the gut feeling the transformation scenes were going to be amazing given their lack of exposure in the PVs or magazine articles, and fortunately I was spot on. I hope the ones for Aoi, Wakaba and Himawari are on the same level. They have to be.
Series itself seems solid enough: comedy, suspense, a bit of drama, some action. I kinda was expecting the Alone to be dealt with in this episode but that will have to wait till next Thursday. That, the OP video (song is great, as usual of earthmind) and the proper ED. |

Nice animation (dat henshin), nice world, the MC is kind of charming, the actual plot could be pretty interesting.
What bothered me and not little was how heavy-handed the exposition was. A lot of dialogue lines were unnatural, and it seemed like the characters were going out of their way to inform the viewer of some plot details, like how the sister brought up the mother in hospital issue in a completely non-sequitur way, or all that jazz with the fear of heights. For now it's a keeper, as long as the action is good I won't complain much. |
