For a while I thought this was going to be a filler episode, but based upon the post-credit sequence it looks like the events of this episode will have repercussions. "Reprisal elections" certainly sound like something that could be a mid-season game changer.

This was an absolutely superb episode! Every time I think I've reached my limit for how much I'm loving this cast, they find a way to top it. Ryuuko, Satsuki and especially Mako were all fantastic this week.
Satsuki gave us a bit of insight into her "pigs in human clothes" line by demonstrating it in action with Mako and her family. We learn a bit more about Ryuuko's background and see how much she's come to care about the Makanshoku family. And Mako, of course, just steals the show this week. I had figured she'd be pressured to choose between Ryuuko and her family, but I was surprised at how perfectly executed that plot was done. |

I really love this anime.
It makes me laugh every time. Those club presidents are a joke. Matoi takes them down every time without fail. I don't know why they even bother. Hmm... an interesting twist took place. Never saw that one coming. It was actually a pretty good idea. Things changed literally over night. Never knew it meant that much to be one star. Mako has gotten serious about keeping the lifestyle.. Guess it wasn't as good as it looked at first. Everyone changed so much it was actually sad. Seemed only Matoi was unaffected by the lifestyle changes. Looks like Satsuki had set quite an interesting trap.

I also wanted to comment that this episode really only solidifies my suspicion that Satsuki is actually testing Ryuuko (and I guess Mako too) for some goal. |

This episode really shows how weak-minded Mako and her family are. Wealth changes people only because they are weak. Strong ones don't need poverty to be their true selves.
Good thing is that they finally realised they were wrong; bad thing is that the realization didn't make them strong, at least not strong enough to be rich and true. Although it is said to be a Mako centric episode, Ryuko is the one who really shines. On the other hand, Ryuko tries to fight Satsuki but is used by Satsuki. Stop fighting, Ryuko, you belong to Satsuki.

She didn't particularly like what she was doing, she was just doing it because she wanted to keep her family (including Ryuuko) happy. When she realized that they had stopped being happy and had become so selfish that they were willing to let her kill her own best friend (the person who helped them get there in the first place), she stopped and made the right call. |
