This serie really disappeared after that dissapoinitng manga ended, probably it made possible readers go away instead of attracting them.
Anyway I'm joining the bandwagon....spoilers please?
Well the first chapter or 2 of the light novels was translated part way on baka-tsuki forums, but I think they forgot about it, not sure as I haven't been there in a while.
Someone did a short summary of vol 2. Those on jcafe give plus karma to kuro-ame-neko
Quote:
I think there are 5 volumes out right now and the manga covers the first volume of the novel. I read this series a while ago so I don't really remember what happens after but...
Spoiler
Spoiler for raw:
-Tokage goes the challenge Shirasagi
-The game sorta has some weird rules, and in the end he loses
-It's introduced that Tokage plays Othello in his free time (online) and is pretty good at it
-He gets kidnapped by some rich Othello player who is looking for ability users that play Othello to participate in a tournament so he can beat some other guy (they get alot of money as a reward)
-He bluffs that he has some power so they he isn't killed (The guy thought Tokage was definitely an ability user from his skill in online Othello...
-Makes contact with Shirasagi who has people stalking the car that kidnapped Tokage from the beginning through a phone call (to the kidnapper's house)
-Tokage and Shirasagi collaborate to trick the kidnapper rich guy (Shirasagi makes contact with him through telepathy this time)
-They end up at some Othello tournament through some series of events and Sugamo's dad is there too
-It's established somewhere that using [Repaint] sort of changes Tokage's psychological state so he changes his eyes to black to match the fact he's playing othello (sort of like placebo effect? like gives him more confidence etc, etc)
-hell breaks loose when a few more ability users decided to use the tournament as a battleground
.......and that's basically all i remember of vol 2.
However now that I have recalled the existence of this novel, i might go read from volume 2 onwards....I actually have it on the bookshelf but haven't read it yet...
-Narumi meets Namekuji (Slug) who is working at a Takoyaki store, and she finds out that Namekuji is a friend of her elder sister Ikari Yurino (who she thought was a AV model but is actually an assassin with the ability to read people's hearts)
-Namekuji stays over at Narumi's house, and they become friends, officially pulling Narumi into the world of ability users (even though Namekuji apparently doesn't have an ability)
-Tokage is still with Kurashina Kouichirou (old man that kidnapped him) and he is lead to a high building and to a floor with sound proof rooms, where Kurashina basically interrogates him. Tokage knows that Kurashina still believes he has an ability, but he is mistaken in believing that Kurashina doesn't have an ability himself.
-Suddenly Kurashina uses his ability to manipulate the other party's forefinger on Tokage and he passes out from pain after refusing to answer his questions.
-Sugamo probably has Tokage sensors or something because while she is in her room watching Kawasemi (Kingfisher) play games, he asks him about the ability user Kurashina Kouichi, and is reassured when she knows he doesn't have the ability to kill anyone with his ability. She brings up the topic with a school cultural festival and invites Kawasemi to go with her.
-Tokage wakes up in a cage and meets Umigame Umitaro in a cage beside him. He recognises her as the girl who was in the psychic ability TV show with Kawasemi in the past, and her fake name [Umigame Umitaro] (not her real name but Tokage doesnt remember her real name after she introduces herself)
-Both Tokage and Umigame decide to co-operate to get out of captivity. The whole room doesn't have electric power, so the electric locks were pointless and they easily got out of the cage but they devised a plan to trick the guards outside.
-Tokage tells Umigame about his useless ability, and he makes a plan which totally relies on Umigame's ability to stretch things. After tricking the guards into the room, he bluffs by changing his eye color to purple, while he instructs Umigame to stretch various limbs of the guards and tie them together. (BTW, Umigame stretched Tokage's finger to get rid of the pain from Kurashina's torture, but it wears off after an hour)
-Tokage decides to get Umigame to stretch all these items he finds around the building and tie them together so they can escape (they were on the 6th floor or something i think) but halfway they are found by Kurashina.
-After some threats and bribery thrown around, Kurashina lets Tokage escape. Also Narumi's sister was hired by Kurashina so she was there too. She informs him that what's holding him back isn't ability but mindset, but he doesn't understand her advice
-After everything, Tokage, Umigame, Namekuji, Narumi, Sugamo, Kawasemi are all at the school cultural festival by some co-incidence. Umigame and Tokage find out Kurashina is there too due to some twisted luck, and Umegame hires Namekuji as a bodyguard.
-Tokage is pulled off by Kawasemi and some of Sugamo's people to dress him up (regardless of what he wants) and he establishes another cult (King Cult) to rival Shirasagi's God Cult. (btw Shirasagi's only ability is to grow wings)
Other spoilers
Spoiler:
At the end of vol 5 its introduced that Narumi also has the same ability as her sister, and in the authors note in vol 4, there is a message saying that Tokage's ability will remain as [ability to change the color of the eyes] but the story still follows the template where the MC grows stronger and the such.
thanks kanrei hope if you have patiance to give us spoilers of volume 4 and 5 just like this in the future, glad to see people haven't forgotten this series
I remembered that I forgot to remember this novel serie.
It seems like the author immersed himself in other works and left this one to rot...no new releases in 5 years...
