Im going to go with one cour for volumes 1-5, final answer lol. Volumes 4-5 will get 3 episodes each.

Series like this need more episodes than 10-13.

Ep1 didn't do much for me. It seemed clumsy and lacked a human feel. But now that the female lead has broken down and brought her real psychology out into the open, there is something there they may be able to develop. I'll keep watching.

Why the heck would Witches and their minions cut little children to pieces? Organ trade? Really didn't expected that to be traded off, thought it would be magical items. o.o

MC in Anti-magic squad using some sort of Magic?

MC with Imouto fetish.

Random fan service scene where MC does things to the Female party.

Sniper Tsundere Girl yelling as she shot the wrong things.

People with deep hatred against certain types of people (witches?).

Enemies with Robots, Weird Gore being conducted.

that's all I got out of ep 1.

that's all it was. people saying it had "deep" meaning are just light novel fanboys.

Well that was way better than expected.

Animation quality is a bit so so, but the music ok. The character are a bunch of flawed idiots with all sorts of baggage it seems, so I assume a good portion of the upcoming plot likely going to be about them overcoming that...and there's a Bunny Girl!

Be interesting to see how this develops over the next couple of weeks, could end up being the dark horse of the session.

if you try hard enough to nitpick at every show, you can find an aspect that's generic

True. Absolute Duo was similar, as were countless others in the last few seasons. Kyuuden Madoushi was another. A lot of them also seem to have the "natural disaster changes the face of the world" plot to them and the characters are quite interchangeable.

I think that's why I liked GATE so much. It was a nice change of pace from the norm.

Maybe some kind of ritual? Human sacrifices are not that unusual even in our own history.

Well in case of THIS protagonist, suprisingly, it's not like his sword skills are some hidden game breakers or anything along these lines. So at least that doesn't fit LN generic patern.
