Well that was better than I had expected.
Good action, decent OP song, and a way to show more of the fantasy world and monsters like that over sized centipede or whatever. Ukon also seems like a character I want to know more about considering his role this week.

god i love this anime reminds me of the times they released decent anime not most of the stuff lately that just want to make a quick buck.
Great story so far and awesome characters and 25 episodes not some rushed 12 ep anime, unless they are spliting the anime into 2 seasons then it might be rushed to include a cliffhanger on ep 12 (all my conjecture)

2nd episode and we already get to see Haku's wits come into play. Excellent. The music which started when they lured the boro-gigiri out to chase them reminded me a lot of the first game's OST, namely the battle track. Max nostalgia! OP and ED songs are beautiful, too.
P.S.: Kuon's tail is amazing. lol

Another really nice episode from this show .
Did get more focus on the smarts that Haku has and his ability to problem solve. He may not particularly like getting into messes like this, but he can really help when needed. Again I still enjoy both Haku and Kuon as the leads. Haku can think up solutions and Kuon has the decisiveness to actually turn those plans into actions. Did a good job luring the Curse, delivering a familiar weapon to Haku, and saving him from that fall. Props as well to Ukon being a pretty solid badass fighter .

This nice pace and world building is wonderful. The intro shows that Haku will face many adversaries, but it doesn't depict wars like the first season. It makes me wonder if Haku will just face tough adversaries instead of going to all out war.
Spoilers Spoiler for Prequel Season Thoughts and References with OP Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?Well, it's early, but I really want to see where this series lead. This series and Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor are definitely my top 2 series this season in a season with so many fantastic shows.

Yes...I also thought that was a strong follow up episode. Quite good!
The ED was also pleasant, both song wise and the simple animation going with it.

its really nice. The OP hits the spot and I like the preview shown in the OP song.
I also liked Haku's character. I expected him to not like going to the mountain, I expect him to come back to the village and I also didn't expect him to save Mororo though he did but he DRAG HIM! funny and interesting guy. I like his characterization. Kuon is also nice and straight forward character. Its also nice reverse situation where Kuon the girl is carrying Haku the boy in her arms. Haku is smart. Its not normal to do those computation mentally and fast. Next episode will be showing a character from the first game. Also homage to Hakuoro's steel fan. it gave more clues on who Kuon is.

My reading of outside material tells me Hakuoro was the protagonist of the first series/game, so I would presume Kuon must have a close connection with one of his companions if she's carrying something iconic of his around 20 years later. For the moment I'll stick with the theory that she's the daughter of one of them.
Curious how the curse followed Kuon so willingly, and then chose to just charge in and jump on the bug without needing additional encouragement. BTW, Kuon is awfully cute, and I love how expressive she is, both with her human features, and with her ears and tail. The latter are constantly in motion, like they should be, rather than just hanging out to remind folks that she's an animal-person. PS: Both OP and ED are good. This show has some good music overall, I'd say.

Agreed...for me the soundtrack is definitely a very attractive part of the series and even the flavor it lends to the world building dribbles it has let flow our way thus far.

The most likely one should be Kurara since Kuon also has superhuman strength, but if I remember correctly Kurara was a lion not a cat. (I don't think there was any cat among the original crews any way. So she is likely to be a completely new character) actually I know so please don't spoil it here... it's not Game Thread

As Domon put it, those are Yuzuha ears/tails. If true, it's also a nice touch that Yuzuha's daughter ends up being the picture of good health, given that Yuzuka was sickly and frail.

Kuon's strength can somewhat be explained if Karura trained her along with Hakuoro. Eruru could have taught her medicine. Kuon's father is Hakuoro with 99.9% certainty, with the namesake and that iconic fan heirloom. I honestly would not mind if there were less wars in this sequel, Utawarerumono has amazing world building, pace, and soundtrack to match it. Spoiler for Images of Yuzuha and Kuon plus Hakuoro. Look at their similarities.:
