when is the next airing date? I'm following this show closely which is why I don't have a clue on what day it airs.

It airs on Sundays JST. For me (GMT +2/+3 depending of season) it's Saturday evening.

I somehow doubt 4chan called it; they tend to miss more than hit. With that being said, I'm not too surprised: Hai-Furi is pretty much Tom Clancy with high school girls as the protagonists (albeit very watered down Tom Clancy)

Not sure what you mean, but people on 4chan had been saying the show probably draws inspiration from The Hunt for Red October since episode 1.

Mind you, the staff used the movie mainly for inspiration on character roles and such, not the plot.

Gotta admire the discipline this crew of bottom-of-the-class freshman has, to stay at their posts and maintain the command structure through all that's happening. You'd expect them to be panicking and running in all directions, trying to get off the ship or take over or something.

They all passed their training. And more importantly, the bridge crew is holding down the fort. For as long as the Bridge keep its act together, the rest of the crew had no reason to panic.

I mean, what good would taking over the ship do? They would still get shot at.

So apart from the change in advertisement image AND homepage, apparently they're changing the volume 1 BR image from the one we saw (of Mike and Moka) to something else.

That was to be expected. Moka isn't a main character. It wouldn't make sense to have her on the BD cover.

Yes, well... "reason" and "panic" don't really go together, do they?

For example, Shiro (I think that's the Deputy Captain who's always complaining about her luck) could decide that she should be the one to get them out of trouble, since she's more qualified and her mother is in charge of the school. Or the girl at the helm could freak out even more than she is already and try taking the ship in some other direction.

It's not a big deal, really. Just something that crossed my mind.

Shiro has no authority with the crew and she is not well liked compared to the Captain. Zero chance.
The helms-woman doesn't know where she is going,she isn't the navigator.

Captain Mike is the only one in the ship who can talk the crew into anything because there are no one else who have the means. "Taking over the ship" isn't something a single person or two could actually do, even if they are armed.
