It was implied simply by Fav's smug, calm, evil, voice during that entire scene. That was not the voice of someone experiencing unforeseen events.

But as for the anime, Fav has already shown the capacity to use vocal inflection and register surprise. He was not remotely surprised by what happened there.

TLDR mixed feelings, no cheap revival plot at the end a la Mai Hime but that means your favorite characters are dead and will stay dead.

Killing off characters of course does not mean it is always disliked or hated if say it in a bad way.
Though in this case there are more than 10 characters i really liked, to be killed this way makes me think not all of them served good examples for why did it have to happen.
Just my opinion.

Still, this feels very real to me aside from magic and other supernatural phenomenon.
Can really something like this happen in real life or maybe close to these kinds of cases.

This situation feels like a cult organization makes the outsiders to be involved in a ritual, to outsiders this is beyond understandable situation for certain goals.

Some events related to dead characters and their actions end up being very relevant later on like Tama killing Cranberry on the last episode which trigger the events on motion.

The first arc is the spark the ignites the flame.

Well this chapter got me, never though that it was going to be tama the one killing cranberry and more that swim swim killed her like that (I also though that cranberry would make it to the end), the flashback of tama and the top speed scene were really good, almost got me a tear.

I just want to see swim swim dead at the end, only that... I'm starting to miss ruler lol.
