Major fail of last episode was spending 2.5 minutes on the recap alone. Wow... just wow...
That said, it's still enjoyable. Slap was so cathartic, it ain't funny. It ain't a fist, but I'll settle for it.

Just to see Kotoko laying down with the love letter and Naoki finding her in tears.. wow.. that was just such a sad scene to watch, even with Naoki's predictable coldness towards it. |

I thought it was one of the best examples of how to do pigtails correctly out there. Kotoko is so cute :3 Quote:
Like SuperKnuckles said, when it comes down to the emotional side, they sure have that covered. That scene was the highlight for me, poor Kotoko ;___;

I enjoy this episode big time. Especially the part where Kotoko run into Irie and try to say Irie name during the race where she has to grab somebody she loves it was pure comedy. Irie is still being a bully but he is definitely starting to change alittle. He now knows Kotoko feelings and stated he can hate dat person today but he might love dat person tomorrow. Good episode overall.

This is kind of like watching an old movie -- and I mean that in a good way. One of those "curl up on the couch in a blanket with popcorn" romance dramatic comedies from the 40s or 50s.
This series is surviving my 3 episode probation far better than several others....

The fact that I'm approaching this series as an old school throwback allows me to overlook one glaring flaw: the fact that Kotoko's initial love for Irie is based simply on his looks and his brains, despite the fact that he has a horrible personality. In a more modern love story, that would strike me are really shallow. Like a guy falling for a girl simply because she looks hot and can cook. But in the context of this show, I'm willing to give that a pass.
I agree they do seem to be able to throw nice little emotional scenes into each episode. The shot of her curled up asleep on her bed with her love letter and the dried tears on her face was very nicely done. |

I really liked episode 3.
9/10 Yeah, I was going "wtf" at the recap, but other than that, it interested me from beginning to end. What I like most about it was their fast development, and this won't be a cliché "I hate you I love you I hate you more I love you more" series for more than 10+ episodes.

The relationship development is very nice. The ending of episode 2 and the ending of episode 3 is basically the same where Irie is screaming or getting mad at Kotoko for the posters about them but this time there's like a better bond between them that they can argue like friends.
I didn't like it when she went to dream mode and forgot about about reality in the race. I hate dumb girls also just like Irie. But I love the scene in the living room where Irie is reciting Kotoko's letter. It was nice. Although I think she over reacted when she slapped him. A hand in the mouth or a tickle or pinch in the body to shut him up would have been more realistic. It was still pretty good since the slap led to nice lines and action. |
