Kallen is a strong character considering the fact that she was introduced as a minor character during the beginning, but later went on to outdo Ohgi, and the rest of the crew. I wonder then, how different is she from Suzaku.

That slace-ish kallen is a realistic evolution after the events happened in the comic, very different by the original anime, but in the anime she not fail in everything.

well, i would beg to differ, since your adaption starts from the last episodes, and considering that kallen has always been badass-ish, now turning into the worst figure of mary sue is OOC. now, about what you said about her failing in the anime or something, dude, i did not understand a word. anyway, art is nice, focus on that.

I know, my english is a little...is about the fact in the anime she success to start a new happy life with her mother.

I used a particoular story position, when Kallen was full of doubts and with a fight inside her about what to do with Lelouch, after Lelouch decision (the enemy of the world) she's very determined to close everything killing lelouch with her own hands, to stop him before the point of no return.

Instead, in the comic, she face a honest and kind Lelouch, and she lose the dream to restart a new life with her mother, then the consequence is a total different character evolution.
In 24 hours, everything fall around her, even the strongest people could risk to drive insane.

Kallen's loyalty was to Black Knight's, even though Lelouch let her go, and told her to live. She also lived by the book, just as Suzaku did in the beginning.

what lived by the book
and what loyalty for the black knights, she is planning to screw over ougi's plans to kill lelouch in ep 21, and pretty much begs lelouch to let her in on his plan in turn 22 (she walks away when its clear he wont respond no matter what)
her loyalty was to japan, and lelouch conquered it so she fought against him
it has nothing to do with her loyalty to the black knights themselves
thats not the same as living by the book, and nowhere near what suzaku did in the beginning

But was she aware of what Lelouch really had in mind?

not in the slightest
she only figured out the truth AFTER she saw zero-zaku
up till that point she was under the impression that lelouch really WAS after nothing more then power, and fought him because of it (he betrayed her, and conquered japan)

I think Lelouch should have told her, so at least she could work with him, and turn this around. In the end though, she did accept it, and got to summarize during the epilogue, while having pictures of Lelouch on the fridge.

lelouch didnt tell her BECAUSE he DIDNT want her helping him
he wanted her opposing him, because if she HELPED him, she'd be viewed as a traitor by the rest of the world
she would not be able to HAVE that epilogue and all those pictures of him while living free with her mother
she'd be dead or worse

she figured THAT out when he died
she understood WHY he did what he did, and why he didnt let HER be part of it

Another heroic choice for Lelouch. That means, he was planning the Zero Requiem for a long time. He took Suzaku in, because he wanted Suzaku to be Zero, and he did not let Kallen in, so that she could live freely, and be there with the Black Knight's. In other ways, he kept the road open for everything to work for his favor. He kept Britannia for his sister, Black Knight's for Kallen, and Zero for Suzaku. Together, they all knew Lelouch, and instead of being separate, will put combined effort into making Zero Requiem worthwhile.

except nunnaly was believed to be dead when he came up with zero-requiem
and kallen almost killed him, suzaku and almost died herself during its most critical phase
so no, lelouch did not PLAN it, he LUCKED OUT on it
aside from pushing kallen away, everything else was up to chance, and could have ended up very badly for all of them
zero-requiem was a giant gamble, not some masterfully made plan

It is then a surprise then, that Lelouch would take such a gamble that could blow up on his face, when he was one of the most gifted strategist in the Code Geass universe. I would consider his brains to be a superpower, without the geass.

The same goes for Kallen who actually had the brain to match with her brawn. A little more confidence, and she probably had the intellectual capacity to be a strategist.

kallen was the only REAL gamble he intentionally took
which turned out to be a rather LARGE gamble, but one he decided was worth taking
having her on his side would have made his task of winning the final battle MUCH easier (its like having two suzaku on his side, and taking one off the enemy's army)
but he decided she was worth taking that risk

its one of the reasons why some people on this thread (myself included) believe Lelouch loved kallen

i disagree with the term "saved"
zero-requiem didnt "save" the world
and lelouch was never about saving the world
he was always about destroying and recreating it, not saving it
if he was about saving it, going after shnizel would have been enough

The thing is that Lelouch did care for others, who he knew, including Shirley, Rolo, Kallen, who were not Nunally. They helped him, and his gratitude towards them lead him to act selflessly at times. As for who Lelouch loved, I think he would have picked Shirley, but to him, his bigger cause was what he cared about more, even though he stopped at times to question his motives and himself.
