I remember how, at one point, one member said that iDOLM@STER was overtaking Saki as the series to beat.
That being said, I have to admit that I myself was surprised by the degree of Saki domination in this. I never thought that "the Resistance" would be so amazingly weak. About the only major Saki loss I can recall was Shizuno's.

This year was the worst Saimoe tournament because of the large number of Saki characters. It went okay until the quarterfinals.
Saki characters will appear again in next year's Saimoe. I hope other characters will crush most of them cause otherwise it will end up boring like this year. I putting my hopes on Little Busters characters since they are strong candidates. |

I'd like to believe that Saki being champions this year would significantly weaken them next year. If not, I'll be counting on the Madoka faction to stand up to them...
Little Busters doing well next year could be a nice surprise. Though Key characters never really did well in Saimoe... So yeah, hoping for more vigorous opposition from a bunch of strong factions (not an informal alliance of weak factions against one dominant faction) and the ability to vote again. I'm sure we're all hoping for this next year.

I will expect both to drop off some. Madoka significantly. Saki still has potential. as the whole franchise isn't even done. But yea, don't expect Saki to make an impact next year -- barring Zenkoku-hen.

Non Ecchi Final Version
Spoiler:
My thanks to the original artists and posters of these images. I recall putting my thinking cap on just before the 2010 finals when I came up with my first 3 x 3 mosaic as I had never seen a combined Saimoe Winners image posted anywhere before. I know it has been reproduced in a couple of places worldwide and has inspired similar in the years thence. Each year I do try to add to the image collage when the winner is announced, usually a temporary image to begin with, then a final image is sourced. To those who make the sourced images I am truly grateful and apologize profusely if I have given any of you any type of offence, I appreciate the work that you do and must thank you for it. I am still gathering some final reflections and probably will post something when I have my thoughts fully together. This year has been both one-way traffic and a wild ride. I look forward as ever to 2013 and what it will bring.

K-ON already won once, it'd be hard to pull twice with just one movie and all these new anime. 2ch are fickle, they seem to pick some new thing more than older stuff.
