How can anyone take issue with calling Neuer the best keeper in the tournament? I'm mystified by that.

That is mind-boggling. Nobody should have any issue with that with the many saves and well-timed interventions he made to keep his team in matches.

I totally agree with you. Neuer was very good this WC. He saved Germany a few times in some crucial moments. So, him winning the title for best goalkeeper this tournament is well deserved and I think nobody can disagree with that.

I had more problems with Messi getting the Golden Ball, to be honest. It felt like an insult on Messi, not to mention a number of standout players in this tournament, including among the German team.

Simply, the better won

Congrats to Germany! Other countries should take note how Germany won the cup. Every team wants to play offensive but you need to have enough talent and the amount of good players produced from Germany in these recent years is remarkable

Just think about it, they won it without their best attacking player in Reus, another fantastic midfielder in Gündogan, two solid defensive midfielders in the Bender twins. And in the final they were without Khedira and their reserve defensive midfielder Kramer got off after 20 something minutes. Schweinsteiger and Lahm can into the tournament banged up, Khedira recovered just in time from an ACL injury, etc. etc.

Is that Per Mertesacker in the back?
Yeah, messi was not amused about him getting the title for best player. His face was like the hell I think he is a victim and Fifa is to blame for this.

Yeah, this BS from FIFA has to stop. It's not getting funny any more.

I'm of those who believe that the player who is the best in the world will keep his status by his own performances. No need for FIFA to barge in like that.

Aus! Aus! Das Spiel ist aus! Deutschland ist Weltmeister!

Damn, I was worried that Argentinia would score a goal within the least 5 min...

(I can hear people outdoors shouting about the victory)

The last few minutes of the game summed it all. When he rushed out to the corner of the box despite there are still lots of Argentina players inside, punched the ball away from an Argentina header, and caught it to keep possession.

You don't see any keeper but Neuer doing that.

But, I really want to know what's wrong with Messi. He was absent this whole tournament. Just look at the players like Higuain, Di Maria and other Argentinian players they gave it all and played like crazy. Even Klose (he is old) but he gave it all. But messi he walked like an old grandma. And to top it off Fifa granted him the Golden ball. It looked like an insult to him. Just look how he was standing there.

Maybe he is tiered but he didn't play that well at Barca too this year. It's like he has lost the passion for football. I think he has some personal issues and Argentina and Barca know more about this.........

Eric Cantona remained a legend after all these years although he retired at just age 30 and said he quit because he lost the passion of playing football for a full-time living. If Messi or anybody wants to call it a day, so be it; it's no use overstaying.

hmm...all I can say is, that is impressive

as for messi, probably stretching it a bit here, but I hope he won't become another Torres. Sometimes, once you drop your fitness (and confidence), you might never regain your touch, especially when you play forward and it seems to me both Torres and Messi always need appreciation from others

Congratulations to Germany for winning the World Cup, they have well deserved, theyplayed good in all the matches.

I found a quote in another forum by Michel Platini (possibly said after a semi-final in the 1980s)

Quote:
When the Germans play well they become world champion; if they play poor they reach the final.
Congratulations to James Rodriguez and Neuer too
The only complain is Messi winnig the Golden ball, seriously?

Messi save Argentina in the first three matches, but after that he disappear, about his perfomance with Barca this year they said it was so that he will be at 100% in the world cup, but it seem that wasn't the reason, I think maybe he is having a lot of personal problems right now.
