No rush to do the video, so take your time. As for recording, do the video and audio. Make sure the audio is just your instrument playing the song without the backing track as well. Sync the audio and video together and email them to me (PM me for my email address)

Audacity to record the audio, and a video camera/webcam to record the video.

Assuming you have a way to plug your bass/amp into your computer, most video programs (like Windows Live Movie Maker and iMovie, to pick defaults) have an option to take the amp input as the audio, giving you cleaner sounds on your playing.
But if you don't have that option, BigSmokeDawg has the best alternative. Audacity is the best option as far as free audio goes. And really any kind of recording device will work. |

Looking forward to the big cover project you guys are doing! I haven't touched my guitar in a year, and I'm finally missing it (due to excitement for the K-On movie (just one more month to go!!!)).
Hmmm... do you mind a suggestion? A band cover does sound awesome and all, but how about making a tutorial(s)? For the K-On songs. Since you guys seem to be able to play them well (I can't even play a whole song), I think a tutorial would be very helpful, especially for newbies (and be the trigger for the birth of more K-On cover bands ^^)

Hmmm... since I brought it up... Let's see... (glad you're up for it!)
Spoiler for suggestion:
And I don't mind long tutorials as long as they're not repetitive.
