The real reason to do the current Proving Grounds is Lyria's winter outfit, which doesn't require much in the way of grinding to get. There's also a free SR Kumbhira just for starting the event.

The new weapon being offered doesn't seem to be worth farming for, though.

The free SR Kumbhira shows up on the main page just by logging in.
And by "not grinding" I mean I'll do all the quests at least once for the crystals. Then it's back to the Angel Halo farms.

Noa is strong and is the new anti-Faa San specialist. Vikala should be secured for her eventual FLB.

I disagree. 12 turns is steep for a 1 turn trigger guard, and not worth it over Zooey and Vira who can mitigate damage for multiple turns. His debuffs are all local only anyway, and so not only does it not help Light teams in Faa-san since they're not the ones debuffing, but it also doesn't help Anila or Yurius do their jobs either.

I'm sure you already know there is more to Faa-san than just blocking Paradise Lost.

If anything, he'd be useful for Proud+ Gilbert since he deals two infinite duration debuffs for free.

Exactly, why I dislike Zoey as she does not have dispell.
Especially for someone like me who does not have 5 on FLB.
On the other hand, I am not that worried about defense with two Odin harp in grid.

I can’t remember how the Zodiac character release thing works. I know that Zodiacs drop off the gacha roster for the year after they’re introduced, but when do they come back on? Specifically Vajra; is she coming back after this legend fest is over (since her year off the roster is up) or is she going to come back each legend fest starting at the end of January alongside Vikala?

February I believe. Mahira will have her uncap, so it's likely that she'll be in the gala at the end of January.

1. New Zodiac is introduced during new years gacha at the start of the January.
2. Returning Zodiac reappear at the end of January.
3. Returning Zodiac gets FLB during February.
4. New Zodiac is not available during Feb end of the month gacha because of returning zodiac.
5. But new zodiac will be available every end of the month gacha until November.
6. New Zodiac is no longer on December.

Ultimately I’m looking for a point when Vajra and Vikala will both be present in the legend gacha so I can hopefully get one when I 300 spark for the other. So Vikala and Vajra won’t both be available to gacha at the same time until March???

They'll be rotating like Anchira will be with Vajra then next month is Makira with Vajra, etc.
