^they could have done it, it was simply that they had been unaware of the world therefore they took the next best option,
the LN actually mentioend that Spoiler for guilds:
Spoiler for guild-stuff:
+ i agree with everyones opinion, this story has its charm in the realism it shows, other storys still allow lvls and skill whichi the char can instantly use but here the abilitys need at least a week in order to be learned, note: "learned" doesnt mean mastered, they simply are able to execute a technique like "silent walk" (thief skill) but it requires repeated use over a long amount of time in order to master them, like swimming, being able to swim doesnt mean someone is a pro instantly, heck, it doesnt even mean someone can swim "good" only a view things of this story |

Pacing of the adaptation is actually nice but repetitive.
This series is one of those that will test the viewers' patience including me. Otherwise, they keep adding insert songs into it. I like them but feel like it's kinda repetitive. The random fan service and ass shots are....eh...yeah, get used to them. It's actually face palm worthy after watching it for three episodes straight. (like half of the episode was about debating on whether it's right or wrong with peeking, underwear, etc) I kinda like this week's episode in way but not impressive either. Above average this time for me. (not great or impressive) What I really did like from the episode though is the relationship of the two girls. They have a sisterly bond.

I'd just drop a quick observation that I'm extremely glad that the director is a veteran with the guts to take creative liberties with his material. The anime does much to greatly improve on its source.
I'd give credit to the LN author for coming up with a fresh angle to a tired genre, but it quickly becomes clear that he is not a very insightful writer, and clearly lacks the sensitivity and life experience to capitalise on what could have been a great story. And yes, Yume is indeed adorable, and I've been 'shipping her with Haruhiro since Ep2. |

Does feel like we are getting set for something bad to happen. Still does feel like the earlier speculation that Manato might go down at some point. After all the connections made there would make it a serious mess if he went down.
In the end the episode shows the ups and downs of this situation. Everyone stressed as could be when things are bad and a lot more calm when they have some successes strung together. Plus a rare moment when a MC is just overjoyed that he managed to buy himself some new underwear . Yume really is a key figure for the show. Her adorableness and personality really keep things going. And thus why I'm "ehhh" at any minor push of her and Ranta. Sure, I can see why he might gain some interest, but can't see much of anything the other way.

I do think it's two way street between them. Sure Yume has thing for Manato, but she is truly naturaly close with Haru which comes with lot of affection points. Even though it's not obvious it should come to surface once she manage give up on her one sided crush.

Dunno. I for one am really liking the pace here. The slow pace really allows you to synchronize with the character mindsets and get into their shoes and perspective. I don't think I have seen anything like this since .hack//sign, (a very laid paced and relaxing adventure series) so I'm really interested to see what the series has next for us.

Personally I don't really know what I do with this series. Idea is good, art is superb, music is ok, and so on, yet I still find this not engaging.
It is not about pace, but so far this series is boring, because is predictable. Falling at start, getting better, those talks... nothing really surprise, there is no opposition or unpredictable problem to overcome. Off course I am curious what happened to character, who they are and about a world, but so far they do not really pursue answers for obvious reason. I still will watch it, maybe it just have a slow start. Anyway, if it world is a purgatory, then it may be like Angel Beats without comedy ^^.

For me it is super clear why I would like this - it hearkens back to the exact sort of adventures and even adventuring exoeriences I most enjoyed back in the late 70's and early 80's when I began tabletop rpg'ing. Ep 3 was downright...enjoyable. All the external trappings are there for me (for me this is likely the most beautiful series visually for me this season), but the story and the character interactions are really the bread and butter here. This is one of the series I look most forward to every week.

Episode 3
I am really loving the pacing here – sure it's slow, but that's just what's needed. They're taking their time developing the world and the characters in it. The slice of life parts are relaxing and fun to watch. The character interactions are also quite nice. They're showing these kids experience this new world with many possible unknown dangers lurking about and a slow pace really helps here. The kids, after many rainy days of failure, manage to get on a killing streak as they attack lone and vulnerable goblins in an abandoned city. Nice thinking from Manato – they learned that they can't take on more than one goblin at a time easily. Now with the money they're earning, they can buy new underwear. Good for them. The next episode shows a rather concerning scene – Manato's staff is lying on the ground and another scene shows Ranta trying to run or something with Yume holding him back. I really hope Manato isn't killed yet reason being I don't really care about him much. If they would spend another episode focusing more on the group together with Manato getting relatively more focus, only then would killing him off have a bit of an impact on the viewer. They did give him some focus in this episode as he led the attack and all, but I think he needs at least another episode for me to somewhat care about him. Or well, just hope things don't go downhill, everything is going so good here. Also,Yume is too damn kawaii |

So there seems like there will be some contention between Haru and Ranta in the future over Yume, I think Haru and Yume are gonna hook up, which sets Ranta off, who obviously likes Yume. Call it a hunch.
Anyway, the pacing was a bit better this time around, but it's still a bit on the dull side, but I think I'll continue to passively watch this show.

yeah right, it's mandatory for anime in 2k16 to have at least 5 minutes scene of some peeping, fanservice or whatever pervert scene. too bad, considering this anime has atmosphere that somewhat feel like ghibli movie.

I really don't like the peeping. It reminds me of the rape statistics in the army, which aren't something fun to think of.
Besides, those people need to have each other's backs. At this point I really couldn't blame the girls if they were a bit slow saving Ranta, should he ever need it. |

Not really, all these things are clear intents from the author. The director is dragging it all out to get the atmosphere and all that, but it's pretty unnecessary

The show can be a little too dragged at times (I think the insert song last episode went on for way too long) but I appreciate the slow pace overall. This is the probably my first time coming across a story that focuses on the deppressive effects of poverty in a fantasy setting and how a misfit ragtag group can be played for tension rather than comedy. I think it's done well to portray both convincingly and in a way one can relate to. Nice to see the group "level up" a bit this episode. No shortcuts with them suddenly becoming badasses overnight I guess.

yume
i just love everything about this character, her dialect, her behavior and her personality =) and she's cute too ! look like they improved quite a lot, i liked the arrow into spell combo i don't really like they mention skill like that i break the immersion a little i think. they could have been more subtle about it i think. preview is quite worrying, why is manato staff lying on the ground like that |
